We're going to sticky a new FAQ thread after the release of the 5.7 modpack, and it would be helpful to know what members' main questions and concerns are regarding same. Are you confused about where to find our mods, how to install them, what they are exactly, or which mod contains what? Please submit like questions here to be considered for the FAQ. Please limit your submissions to fundamental questions and avoid inquiries like "why isn't Elmo a ranger" or "don't you think Terjon is overpowered?" This shouldn't be about the content so much as the nuts and bolts of selecting and using our mods, the answers to which can get players up and running quickly. Think black and white topics and not debateable ones. Thanks for your help.
Would it be easy to uninstall the Modpack and put in the older one if I don't want to use it after trying it? Or would I have to do a clean install of ToEE first?
It's worked in an earlier version of the front end going between 5.0.x and earlier stuff, but I think then the different versions had separate, fully unpacked and installed file sets.
Well.. for someone who is new here, have you done anything with these other "mods" to test them with 5.7 or will you be waiting for feedback then? Is there a list of mods as well to reference?
I guess something that I've pondered is if one can "delete" the previous versions without fear of repercussion as far as the front end is concerned?
Hey again, I realize that I am new here but I do have a question about how "humble Npc's" will work in the 5.7 Mod pack. I will give you an example of what irks me about 5.6 since I started playing through it. I acquired Elmo and Furnok for my party and was able to acquire upgrades for them or my party. Since I consider Elmo my best Tank based on AC and HP's, I wanted to give him a BP Chain +3 that was better than his current Magic Chain Plus one BP. The mod will allow me to upgrade his BP but won't let me transfer his old BP to another party member. Also, with Furnok I was able to upgrade his Leather Tunic, and his Shortsword, the mod wouldn't allow me To sell his shortsword or sell or trade his tunic to another party member. So furnok had extra weapons and armor that encumbered him that I couldn't trade. I understand the idea of mercs and making sure that they are truly mercs but I personally like to be able to micro manage my party. I don't want to be able to take their really good magic armors and weapons and equip them with junk or gear up my other party members and shafting the mercs. My idea is that they keep their good magic gear and weps until I can acquire loot upgrades for the mercs and then do "hand me downs" to party members. I am ok with letting them keep their magic armors and weapons, even though my regular party members have worse but I prefer too put my best acquired loot on my best party members regardless of whether they are mercs or not and then I like to do "the hand me down" system where other party members get upgrades from higher party members once those items aren't upgrades for them anymore. So my question is, Is their anyway that this could be a reality for me with the C08 mods. I really enjoy the work you guys have put into the game and enjoy the content and look forward to 5.7 and TOTWC. Thanks, Albyen
Hmmmm... sorry if this is a silly question but did you talk to the NPCs? They should have been willing to sell you their gear: they just want you to pay for it.
Hey again, Talking to Furnok allowed to me buy his starting gear and resell it to a merchant to clear inventory. I didn't think of that, thanks for the tip. As for Elmo, giving him the +3 Red Chain Bp won't allow me to buy his +1 Red Chain BP for another party member. I get some dialogue about him possibly not knowing me long enough and he tells my party member that he cannot. I'd like to have the freedom to mule gear between characters but I guess Elmo may let me barter with him after he stays in the party longer. Will that be the case? Thanks, Albyen
Yes. Remember that you're dealing with NPCs who should be at least semi-autonomous. Hence, they may do seemingly inconvenient things like this.
