Just ignore those and put the mod and front-end in the top-level folder for the game, probably something like "C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\". Sorry if I wasn't clear there.

Ok, thank you all very much for your help so far.

I think I may have narrowed down the issue, although I still have to confirm.

I think it's my AVG (anti-virus) causing the issues here. I have the problem where it doesn't recognize my cd when I try to play, so I used a cd crack..however I believe the one I have may be for the wrong version. When I've tried downloading newer versions of the crack (for 2.0 and 3.0) my AVG won't let me download it even if I choose to ignore the trojan (I've read numerous reports here on the forum that the trojan is a false positive, which confirms my belief because of where I found the crack which is usually a safe place).

Anyway, I'm going to do something a bit risky, uninstall everything again, uninstall my AVG, install the game, patches, mods, etc, get the newer crack and then try and run it. if it works, I'll install AVG and try and run it again.

I'll get back to you all later about this, I have a bit of uninstall/re-installing to do again. :)

Ah, now using the no-cd crack presents another issue entirely. Make sure you get the v2.0 one. It should be about 33kb in size, much smaller than most.

Holy crap after all that, yes it was the no cd crack I was using that was causing the problem...or possibly my AVG, not sure which.

    Anyway, it FINALLY works! Hurray!

Thank you all so much for your time spent on helping me, it is very much appreciated!

Good for you, and enjoy the game... preferably multiple times... and again later on when Co8 6.0 is finished... :p

Congrats, Landsharkk, and have a good time. This is probably one of the best rpgs ever (now that most of the bugs have been fixed) but it can be hard. We're all pretty friendly (most of the time) as you have seen so feel free to drop in once in a while.

Just wanted to add that I had similar problems with AVG on my Vista x64. I did the same as you and uninstalled AVG so I could play TOEE. Sorry, you'll have to pick one or the other. I've been told that Mcafee has the same problem but that Avast does not interfere with the game if you want to try another program.

    Avast ftw!

Avast loves the ToEE no-cd and will never attack it, but it is irritating in other ways, such as it's baffling interface that doesn't feature a way to actually do a virus scan, etc. But it's less intrusive than AVG. And it is free.

The worst part is probably the screwball logging. I'm considering trying Avira since it's ranked similarly with Avast. I've also heard that the newest Norton AV is far less intrusive and resource-hungry than it used to be, but I don't feel like paying for it. I have never, and probably will never, like AVG ever since it made sport out of breaking half of my coding projects back in high-school.:thumbsdow

I've never had problems running ToEE with Norton AV in any of it's incarnations.

I need to brush up on my DnD, I made my party and took a while to get them all equipped. Apparently I forgot clerics can't have longswords, so now my cleric is temporarily gimped. :)

Has anyone tried having 2 clerics in there group before? I was curious if that would be useful or not.

So far the game has been fun, seemingly much more technical than NWN, but NWN always felt empty to me anyway. TOEE seems to be much more 'adult' with the difficulty at least. I like it.

If you had one devoted almost entirely to offense and support, it might be worthwhile. Not sure aside from that. I found that a Cleric and a Bard more than filled my healing needs, even with a 2-hander (no buckler) Fighter as my primary meat shield.

One cleric is sufficient, a good thing is to have him learn typical clerical feats.

I'm currently running a party with 2 clerics and I've kind of done what Cortillaen suggested. One cleric is primarily a healer (carries all the heal wands and most potions) but he still can attack. Both clerics, however, carry a lot of support spells (magic circle, bless, protection from/resist energy, shield of faith, bear's endurance, bull's strength, prayer, and aid are the most commonly used) and spend the first round or more (depending on how hard the battle looks) buffing themselves and others. They can do this because I have a front-line guy who takes the brunt of attacks (he's got a good AC) thus letting the clerics do their thing. I've also outfitted them with longspears so they can break off combat easier (unless you're fighting an opponent with reach) when needed.

Clerics can be either great support spell-casters or great warriors, but I've found that it's difficult to be both. If you use the cleric as a warrior, he has to break off combat when other characters get hurt, thus probably giving your opponent more attacks becuase he won't get killed as fast. If you use the cleric as a support spell-caster, he needs to have a range weapon because in some fights he's only casting one or two speels (or sometimes none at all). However, clerics usually have a low DEX so they can't hit with range weapons very well, plus they are limited to the crossbow normally so they have to spend time to re-load.

Sorry to make this long, but I really did like running with 2 clerics but only because I could use them in the way I did. If you're not going to have another warrior to help, I wouldn't think it would as well.

Also, having 2 different clerics widens your crafting possibilities.
