  1. Re: Circle of Eight Modpack 5.5.x + CMF Bug Report Thread

Had another really bizarre occurrence: A lv4 Wiz cast Acid Splash on a target, roll 20 on the touch attack, confirm the critical, and then deal 2d3 (3, as it happened) cold damage. I've got screenshots of the relevant rolls saved. Is there some reason the Acid damage turned into Cold damage?

I've noticed that the game sometimes skips attack animations. I didn't notice any other side effects though.

I've seen that happen once in a while, too, but this was a lot more than just missing animations. I wonder if it has something to do with that map and/or the Will-O-Wisps since I've never had it happen except with them.

It's a pretty well established fact that using the console can cause all sorts of strange issues in the game. Your incidents are (unfortunately) most likely related to that.

If you have one going, use an un-consoled game for testing and see if those exact same issues come up. If they do, then the modders may have a better chance at reviewing and resolving it.

  5. Re: Circle of Eight Modpack 5.5.x + CMF Bug Report Thread

As I noted above, the first time I had this happen was with a natural (no console) party. That party now has one consoled member (just xp since he is a reproduction of and replacement for a character I screwed up pretty bad). I don't have any other totally console-free saves at the moment, so I'll just make myself a note to poke around for the bug on my next playthrough.

Hmmm. The Bug Report thread is closed now. Acknowledged bug 117 states that Zaxis is missing Elf proficiency for weapons. He is a half-elf and therefore should not have that.

My bug report (#110) was rejected. Fine, but perhaps you should have a look at the dialog to and the scripting to see if it makes sense if the number of PCs is not 5.

I'm crashing when I leave the 'shop' area when starting a new game.

I installed the original game from my CDs.

    Installed Patch 1.

    Installed Patch 2.

Made sure I had .Net 2.0

    Installed the ModPack

    Got the newest TFE-X.

Ran TFE-X, it did the conversion thing.

    Activated the Modpack mod.

    Played.

Was able to create a party (of 6, after modifying the max number), able to go into the shop area and gear out the party.

    Used the portal and crashed.

Found some information about the stackable ammo thing, made sure I had only 1 stack (20) arrows and bolts on the people with bows/crossbows.

    Still crashing.

You need to have no ammo at all - bolts, arrows, or bullets - when in the shop. This will be fixed in the upcoming release.

Ah, didn't see that in the other posts I found. Thanks :)

EDIT: Ah now I crash during the alignment related pre-scene. Ah well.

EDIT2: Because I saved before leaving the shop. All good now :)

I know there's a lot of bugs with Jayfie in 5.5 but i can't seem to find him at all. Did he get moved elsewhere?

Didn't someone say don't save games in the shop?? Or is the problem reloading from a saved game located in the shop?

You shouldn't save games on the shop map if you have any ammo on you, because attempting to subsequently load them will cause a CTD.

Jayfie is there, northeast corner of the site by day, with the hood of his robe down.

Thank-you! I was just about to post a question about this. I just bought the game and installed the modpack, following the instructions exactly, but it keeps crashing to desktop before I can even get started (but AFTER I'd spent all evening creating my characters). Presumably, I should be able to start a new game without creating new characters, right? (I've got a quicksave before they bought ammo, but apparently I shouldn't use quicksaves either?)

And what's this about not carrying more than 20 arrows? Is there a list somewhere of the things like this we must avoid doing? I looked at the ToEE Troubleshooting Checklist - http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7132 - but none of those things are mentioned.

I assume that these are bugs in the game itself, not just with the modpack, right? As I say, I've just bought the game, and I don't usually play mods (in fact, it took me awhile to figure out how to open a RAR file), but I heard such good things about this one...

Finally, I bought backpacks, pouches, and rope, but apparently they don't do anything (yet). Obviously, I didn't realize that. Well, the ToEE help files aren't great in any case. But is there a list of things that the modpack added which don't do anything (yet)? I suspect that most people playing the modpack have already played ToEE. And perhaps I should have skipped the modpack at first, too,... but I'd rather just start playing the game! :)

    Thanks again.

Its a complicated bug to do with how the game creates mobs of stacked items. I think we figured it out and it should be gone from the next release.
