Which "normal" portraits are you referring to? 36 of the original 37 ToEE portraits are available for PCs in the current Co8 modpack.
The portrait of the whore Charlotte is pretty drowish looking or resize one of the drow to make a big portrait and add to the pc selection. Not sure if it will work tho. Adobe may not co-operate. Half_Knight would know.
Actually I don't have any dwarf portraits not even custom ones. And I don't have Halfling male rogue portrait. Is this a bug?
Wow. That kinda bites. Not that the portrait is the be-all, end-all of the game, but I like to look at the pictures sometimes. I would say a complete reformat of your hard drive and reinstallation of the operating system from scratch, with all the newest and greatest drivers. If you don't want to do that, I'd say just completely uninstall The Temple Of Elemental Evil, making sure to get rid of any remnants left on the c: drive, like the Atari folder, and then clear the registry. Follow the modpack's instructions to a "t", and don't use any cd-hack crap. Just the game, the patches and the modpack. Actually, I just remembered something else that may be borking your portraits, but I wouldn't really think so. Make sure you have the .NET framework or whatever it's called installed.
No use, but I tried swapping portraits.mes with .mes I got from custom portraits download (where's no changes with "normal" portraits and it worked. Now I don't have any custom portraits. So I think that portraits.mes was the problem.
No, there is no documented problem with portraits.mes. Most likely your installation was interrupted before the module activation could complete, which would result in many other woes down the line for you. A properly installed and activated game and modpack should yield 36 original portraits and 48 new custom portraits, all of them accessible and selectable and with no white mouse arrows anywhere or anything like that. If you don't have this, uninstall the game, delete all left over ToEE folders, and then reinstall the game according to the letter of the installation instructions, being sure in particular to allow the necessary time for the Co8 module to activate (as per instructions).
I've re-installed it 3 times already according instructions and I even deleted ToEE registery. I've .NET framework 2.0 and I gave more than enough time for Co8 to install and active. At least installer said that Co8 is ready to use and ToEE front-end x reported that Co8 was active, but I don't know.
I use to have a lot of customs portaits but now with 5.5.0 I'm down to 1. Royo04 for Fruella I tried resizing a mini to make a big with Adobe but it looks like crap. Better left to the pros. Charlotte can be made a recruitable npc and pretend she's a drow. Would need some protos changes also, but it could be done. Just a matter of how much you want to have a drow(ish) person in your group. Drow pc and recruitable npc are not part of the game. The drow in the game are modded add-ins and not part of the original game.
We will have the same portraits that we have just right now in the game? I just need to let ya to know, that some photomoanipuled images there just, well, S*CK! They are simply terrible, and dont macht with the game (like the guy in a golden brast plate and the number of girls with no-belly-clotes (sorry, no idea of how to say that in other way; we call this baby-look here at brazil) that just dont exist in the game! But the bad here is the fact that they are just ugly, with a "photomanipulation" very, very unskilled, and with a baaad taste!
Geez A_d_G, why don't you tell us how you really feel? Here are some facts: The two artists who did the extra portraits for Co8 are professionals. The one who did the no-belly-clothes portraits that I think you're talking about is from Brazil. There is golden armor in the game. There are armors and clothes that feature no midriffs in the game. Many people have very strong positive opinions of the new portraits. In fact, based on the feedback I've heard, the overwhelming majority seem to like them. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but would it be too much trouble for you to phrase it in a less insulting manner? Such as "I don't care for the new portraits." You may be an artist yourself, but that doesn't mean you get to be the final decider of what's good and what isn't. Your opinion carries no more weight than anybody else's. For example, if I said that your avatar (which I assume you drew) sucked, would that mean that it did so objectively? No. I can only claim that I don't like it, which is all that I would say if I was going to presume to judge your work publically. You should do the same and not be so inconsiderate toward the people who have given freely of their time, for you, in order to try to improve this game. I'd also like to ask that in the future you specify exactly what you're talking about when you offer criticism. It's unfair, irresponsible, and lazy to make blanket statements, particularly negative ones. To answer your question, yes, the next modpack (and likely all of them in the foreseeable future) will have the same portraits that we have right now.
