Equipment Problem

    I hope this isn't a repost of something but I searched around and couldn't find anything out.

    I reinstalled the game and applied the appropriate patches, you guys' mod, the front-end X works just fine, etc. but whenever I start a new game, all my characters have empty inventories, save a set of farmer's clothes. Did I activate some option I wasn't supposed to, or possibly deactivate something? I couldn't find a bug report for it so I'm assuming this is on my end. Has this happened before?

    Are you using the Co8 5.5 mod and starting on the shop map? If so, you should have enough money to outfit your characters as you'd like (within reason and RAW for 1st level characters) out of the chests. IIRC, the only equipment you should start with in that case are weapons you took a Focus in or Exotic Weapon Proficiency.

    I am not sure what you mean by shop map. There's something about it in the tutorial section of the in-game help, but I don't know how to use it.

    I'm using the 5.5.0 mod, it's the one I have activated in the front-end thing. I have no clue how to access any shop map.

    You are on the shop map if it is a large room with several chests. Taking something out of a chest and putting into a player charecter's inventory buys it using your limited gold.

    When I start a new game (Chaotic Neutral party) it just hurls me into the little dungeon with no equipment or any option to get any, save a morningstar that I focused on with my fighter. I'm not seeing any kind of shop map with chests that I can purchase items from.

    In that case your 5.5.0 mod is not activated properly (for whatever reason).

    Try reactivating it with the Front End: if necessary, activate the vanilla mod, then activate the 5.5.0 mod again. And be prepared to wait a looooooooong time for it to activate, if necessary: thats normal (as is the Front End not responding while it does so).

    Actually, I did that about a half hour ago and got the same result. I've also tried with multiple party alignments, and each one just sends me flying into the storyline with farmer's clothes.

    edit: I tried reactivating it and it still won't give me any kind of shop map. Is it something that's supposed to just happen automatically? Like, here, start your game, make your dudes, buy your stuff? Is it something that you select on installing the mod?

    Yeah, it happens automatically.

    Just on a whim, can you let me know what folders you have in your root Temple of Elemental Evil folder? You should have a few called 'data', 'modules' etc: can you let me know exactly whats there?

    The folders I have are docs_Co8 5.5.0, modules, miles, and data.

    edit: The reason the reply took so long is that I tried reinstalling it and needless to say it didn't work.

    @ Turdsman: Did you, by chance, use a no-cd crack on your installation? If you're using a no-cd crack you need to make sure you're using the right one. If you're not using the right one you'll end up with an outdated version of the game executable which doesn't work with the 5.5.0 mod (expect it not only to throw you into wrong places, but also crash to desktop and cause all sorts of problems). Just in case this is your problem, you need a small ~33kb no-cd for your game instead of the large 1MB+ one.

    I am, but I just went out into storage to see if I could find my copy of the game again and I did. So let's see if this works. I'll have to reinstall again though.

    Now I feel silly.

    It was the crack, it's all working just fine now. Thanks for the help, sorry I didn't bring that particular aspect up earlier, I didn't think it was important for some reason.

    i have the exact same issue. but i cant find 6the crack file anywhere (meaning, i have the 1MB+ one)
    is there a download link to the tiny one or can someone tell me where i can find it?

    We don't keep a link here, because its illegal, but you should be able to find one with Google. I can't be more specific because I have never searchedfor it myself.

    Or you can hope some Good Samaritan PMs you the info. We have some Samaritans here, don't we folks?
