Um...ya...this might be a stupid question but is the KotB Demo the game we've all been waiting for or is this as the name would imply simply a demo of the much larger game soon to be released? Thank you.
Do i really need to answer that first part? The current KotB Demo (1.1 Final, now patched to 1.11) is a taste of the final version, to come some months from now. It lacks the Caves of Chaos and Inner Bailey of the Keep, but has pretty much everything else The Demo is also the last public release we will do before the full version (barring a continuance of the CTD problems, and a fix to those appearing in the near future - if a fix arises, it will of course be posted immediately).
Ya like I said it might be a stupid question but the reason I asked, and thank you for the response by the way, was because I see a whole lot on the demo and nothing on what I'll call the finished product but I'm sure now it's because the demos the latest, newest thing. I'm not one of those guys that's gonna badger about when will it be ready, when will it be ready so put that out of your mind. I like many here am very grateful for what all those involved with this mod and the previous mod have done for the game. Without you all many of us could not have experienced ToEE at all! Trust me there's nothing but good thoughts here for you guys.
Yeah, Ted and the crew here are sort of like Blizzard Entertainment. "It'll be ready when it's ready" And just like with Blizzard, you're never disappointed with their work!!
@ Parum: Well, one thing is certain - KotB Demo, despite the fact that it's not a full version of the module, is completely enjoyable and will provide you with quite a few hours of D&D fun. So, it's not the same kind of demo as in "play for thirty minutes, stopping at the most interesting plot point, and then die waiting for more" (I mean the demos of commercial games here of course), it's much much more than that, so I highly recommend you to download and try it out - you may actually even want to give it more than one run to try out different options you have, different character builds, etc. KotB Demo has much more to offer than you'd normally expect from anything that would have "demo" in its title. But speaking formally - yes, of course, it's not the full final module, KotB is still in active development and the full version of the module will be released later. No one knows when exactly, because mod release dates are always very hard to predict - modding is our hobby, not our main work. - Agetian
Agetian I'm glad you posted because I though just that and that is the demo is probably some 30 minute teaser. I think I'll take your advice and download it at some point. Interestingly coincidental is the fact that for the first time in a few years our old D&D group are getting together to start a new game so it's in my blood right now! lol Hey I wonder if you make a character you like in the demo and want to keep them would you be able to continue the game with said character in the full version? Hmnn.
Hmmm... I'm gonna say, "yes", because it is unlikely any new feats or skills will be enabled between now and the full version (keeping in mind Alchemy and Disguise are both enabled in the final Demo though they do nothing. Maybe Profession (ideally this will make an appearance, but it is a looooooong complicated road to get it in in a meaningful way). Otherwise you are quite correct, there has been no public comment on the full version lately because we have been focussed on the Demo. The next internal release for the modders is slated for next week (a milestone, no less) and if I can keep to it, there will be a public announcement then
