I tried to search but could not find any information. I backed up my games (though I don't know if I did it properly or not. But when I backed up it created a tfs file then I restored it and when I went back into the game the saved files are empty. I have no idea what I am doing here I think I was just trying out the various features of the front end.

I am using Vista with the two atari patches and the Co8 5.5.0 patch

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try running TOEEFEX in administrator mode. Is your TOEE game installed in the Program Files folder?

Thanks I have to run it in admin mode due to vista. The TFS file is only 22 bytes, which seems kinda small. Where are the saved games normally found in the add on modules?

All the saves are now stored in the modules\TOEE\Save folder, that's why they are automatically backed up/restored when you change modules.

I suggest you move your TOEE install out of Program files, or always run TOEEFEX as an admin.

I just had this same issue - my saves corrupted so I used TFE-X to restore my backups, and ended up with no saves or characters in game, though I had backed up my array of five saves.

I can't find any options for running as an administrator, and I'm using XP-SP2 (Not Vista). I'm not sure what the purpose of moving the installation out of program files is - could someone explain this?

    Edit: XP-SP2, Co8 5.5.0 + Atari patch 1 + 2 + NoCD2 (Correct Version)

Edit2: What is the correct path for the folder to backup the saves manually, since I am currently unable to use TFE-X backups? Is it modules/ToEE/Save and modules/ToEE/players?

Is there a write up somewhere detailing how to back up files. I'm a total newb.

modules/toee/save is for save games, modules/toee/players is for the PCs you create. You should be able to continue from a game even if the files for PCs you're using are absent, but you wouldn't be able to start a new game with those same PCs. Hope this makes sense =)

As for restoring and getting no saves - you're likely restoring from the default blank file, you need to backup your saves (click the "backup saves in TOEEFEX) first iirc. Never used it myself though.

The thing I said before is only valid for Vista, because it refuses to delete/edit/create files in the Program Files w/o administrator privileges.

evilthorne, I'd check the official TOEEFEX faq, or ask a quetion in the TOEEFEX comment section.

For me, I used the backup feature of TFE-X (For example, I clicked "Backup Saves" and then created a new file named with the date, then clicked save.) I did not use the default, though I do see that file when using the backup feature on the list.

Those files are all empty. Oh well I guess the games are gone. Too bad, I won't use that feature again haha.
