Can someone please explain to me, as simply as possible, what I need to change and where so that I can press SHIFT and ~ to be able to type in cheats? (Or am I modifying the shortcut?) I saw it explained on another site and was completely lost. Please help. Thanks.

This will only work if you have Patch 2 installed, though.

You might also encounter problems if you're using a non-us keyboard layout.

For uk keyboards, use shift ¬ (thats the one directly below escape).

    SHIFT ~ Problem

I have tried holding SHIFT and pressing ~ and nothing.
I have installed all the patches that I could find and I have a US keyboard so that is not the problem. I guess I'll have to re-check to make sure I have the right patches. Thanks all !!!!

As I understand it, you get the console with patch 2, which will also create the file temple.dll. Thus, if you don't have that file in your main directory, it would indicate you haven't installed patch 2, which you need, and that would be your problem.

Unfortunately, there are other ways to get a temple.dll file, as in from Moebius' temple.zip fix. However, his fix requires installing patch 2 first, so that the .dll file is referenced in the first place, and the installation process thus requires replacing the old .dll file with a new one. If you replaced a .dll file when installing this, that would indicate you have patch 2. If you did not have to replace anything, you never got patch 2 installed correctly, and you'll have to do that.

I think that's how it all works, anyway. If you have patch 2 and still don't get the console, something's screwy, and you should probably uninstall/reinstall, applying patch 2 before doing any other changes (you can ignore patch 1, it's included in 2).

    Got it !!!!

Well, I had to uninstall the whole thing and re-do it. It now works. Thanks everyone for the help with that.
