Some things(bugs) i found in ToEE Co8 5.5.0

    Voices
    -..\\Temple of Elemental Evil\data\sound\speech\pcvoice\30, 50 and 51 have 200/201.mp3 sleep sounds instead of overencumbered.
    -New voices have high noise level, some more some less, female Playful is most noticeable probably.


    Crashes
    -Opening map unstable after saving/reloading. Zero reloads zero crashes, one reload lot of crashes if trying to save again, or trying to enter the portal.
    -Game pretty often crashes on random encounters, but not the first time( maybe because of no reloads yet)

    Text:
    -Jayfie quest dialog broken, empty entries everywhere.
    -Rumors in Nulb: "Beware of pirateS in Nulb."
    -Burne's first wits challenge: "deserved to have new steeds" - sentence ends without a point. Obviously some text is missing as there is nothing the knights would have to agree to do, which they do.

    Misc.

    -Terjon stopped healing after offering cost reduction(i believe)
    -Max speed limit on armor is not shown until equipped
    -ProtEvil is duration 50, mass protevil 600( or 500). Maybe by design but seems strange.
    -Circlet of Persuasion says +2, gives +3 to cha skills
    -Added barrel in Hommlet changes position in different new games. Not sure if its by design.
    -Random encounters spawn shadows. Which are immune to everything my party can throw at them at that level. Frustrating. ... Not. My rogue still can damage them with piercing weapons a bit.. See screen. (hosting site down sry)
    -Invisibility Sphere causes infinite AoO, until i remove the weapon manually.

    Let me add a small one: After freeing Elysia from her dad, you ask for a reward, and she gives you 100gp. When you speak with her again, you can ask again, and get the money as many times as you want. I took a couple of thousand, which made up for the lack of treasure the white dragon gave me ( 6 gems??).

    That's as intended. Not all the NWN sets had suitable encumbrance lines, so something similar had to suffice.

    Hm, not too sure about this. The left side of the image below shows the wave image of a file with known audible background noise. You can see indications of noise in the low spots - the supposedly silent spaces between spoken words or sentences - next to the yellow line. The file on the right is a line from Playful's set. It's basically flat, indicating little or no perceptible noise.

    You may more likely be experiencing system issues with the .mp3 bitrate of the files or something along those lines. I would be interested in looking at a file from your install if you could post one here.

    As for noise it kicks in slightly before the actual voice and ends shortly after, probably the voices were inserted or something. Here (comparing \48\3.mp3 from playful soundset and \01\1.mp3 from charismatic soundset)

    Silence, followed by voice. Versus silence, followed by static, followed by voice with static. However, i dont have nwn1, no idea if sounds there are in .wav or .mp3... From your example zoom a bit more between the "mountains", though its not that emphasized there. i hear it clearly ingame, maybe because i have voice volume set pretty high. ( > Here < is the whole playful soundset from my install, i havent done anything to it though)

    Thanks much, will check those out. Something must either be screwy with the download or screwy with the extraction process, because none of that is there in the original files. Will look more closely later.

    I don't know what else to tell you ... there's no noise in there. I can't see it and I can't hear it. :shrug:

    I notice that in your image the crazy clipping appears to start at 0.1. In mine, it's clean all the way to 0.2 when the voice starts. And the file is identical to the source file the .tfm archive was built from, so it's not an extraction defect or a bad download. Got to be something in your system.

    BTW, guess what? I'm almost positive that 'Playful' is actually Fruella putting on another voice. It was somewhat ... chilling when that dawned on me. ;)

    I Guess that actress worked on NWN too. They did come out (NWN and ToEE) around the same time.

    Thanks for looking. Are you at headphones or table boxes. I could imagine that with table boxes these noise levels are probably blending in with other interferences. I hear it pretty good in headphones.

    Heh thats nothing. The german Jaheira is also Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie, and some girl from King of Queens. Talk about weird.

    I'm at studio monitors. The point is, the noise simply isn't there (in significant levels) in my originals or your copies when I look at/listen to them. The total RMS power from 0.06 to 0.16 is -75.27 dB. Whatever extra you're hearing has got to be coming in on your end somehow.

    Yes well possible, im stating what i hear. Anyways some more things

    Items:
    - Amulet of natural armor stacks with barkskin

    Quests
    -"Free Jenna" quest. Rescued orc wants to mark stairs on the map, but doesnt
    -Air quest 1 "convince orcs" Still has the line "Kelno is still waiting" (along with the line "Hows life in air temple") later it disappeared though,
    -Same thing fire quest 2, "orc cave" quest, dialog lines can be talked through repeatedly.

    Sounds:
    -spike growth, invisibility sphere sound effects are very loud, compared to other game sounds. Makes it hard to adjust volume. Again this is probably most noticeable in headphones.


    Misc:
    -Failing to disarm a trap yields double exp as a successful disarm(old thing i believe)
    -"Free Jenna" quest again. Verbobonc traders, if agree to escort, then talk(they have the old dialog), complete the quest another way(the option w/o escorting). They "disappear" but not quite. See pic.
    -On earth faction level some ppl can go through magically held doors(two of them)
    -if creating wand with full inv, wand is accessible(and working) though radial menu, but nowhere to see in inventory

    Btw, i havent thanked you for the effort youre making to fix the game. I do now. Thanks! It is just unbelievable how much more bugs this game would have w/o you guys. Ironically wasnt it supposed to be a game with the most complete D&D 3ed implementation out of all D&D games...

    I'm not sure if this is a bug with the Co8 patch or just a general bug but with two different evil parties when I went to kill Rufus and Burne there were 2 Burnes (no complaints, I got double the magic items but oddly only one of them had coins). I tried it for the heck of it with a neutral party and only one Burne, evil only bonus? heheh

    I've also hit the Jayfee dialog bug mentioned above, and the magic shop dialog bug in Verbobonc mentioned in another thread.

    Lastly with an 8 person party at Hickory Branch when I entered the leader's cave the 8th party member gets put in the wall no matter how many time I re-entered.

    I posted a zip of the original Jayfie dlg file in GeneralMod. Just unzip and copy and paste to data/dlg and it'll put the original file back in. If you have a .dat extractor the files are in .dat4. Just a quick temporary fix until the new dlg is corrected.

    Invisible charas are an old bug. Never had it myself tho.

    About XP on failed disarm: if you look on the inventory screen, you'll see that you're not gaining XP. IIRC Kent from Hommlet in 5.0.4 explained that =)

    Yeah: I think he explained it as far back as 3.0.4 ;)

    Two Burnes is interesting. One is the shopkeeper, the other the recruitable one, but you are not meant to see both at once (obviously): they swap behind-the-scenes. Not sure why both are on at once.
