Hey I was wondering if i could get some help with an interesting problem, It seems as if the new mod wont show up in the front end. When I open the front end module, the only available mod on the top of the screen is the crappy original release. Ive installed everything correctly... or so it seems, because i can get the core game to work, but not the X version. I am running on windows XP, and I have gotten the game to work before on the computer, but I uninstalled *shoots self in foot*. Any ideas?
X version? The newest release is the Co8 5.5.0 you can find it on ModDB there should be a link in the downloads section of the forum.
Yeah, im sorry, thats what I meant. Im used to the old front end, the one just before this one that came out. But it doesnt show in the actual program... as if its not installed, but it has to be, seeing as im using it. i know its hard to explain but im doing the best i can lol.

The fact that the Co8 mod is not there must mean that you did not install the game correctly, unfortunately. Try extracting the entire .rar archive to the ToEE root directory again.
Unfortunately, Ive done that with no success. Ive also Re-Installed both the game and the front end. Nothing there either.
I had a similar problem when I didn't uninstall everything before I re-installed it. Don't know if that's what's going on, but I'd check it.
If you double-click the .rar archive to open it, do you see a file called 'Circle of Eight Modpack 5.5.0 BETA.tfm' in there?
Okay, I gave that a shot (again) and it actually worked, but now im experiencing new problems... First of all, the level cap wont set to 20. Ive set the cap to 20, and enabled the new level cap, but I still get stuck at 54999 experience. Also, when picking spells, the list only goes to 5th level spells, further implying that you cant hit higher than 10th character level. Furthermore, Im not able to memorize lower level spells in higher level slots. For example, I can no longer memorize Holy Smite in a 6th level domain slot with my cleric. Am i just missing something simple? Ive tried everything I can with different level caps, and nothing new happens. I do know that the game is recognizing the Co8 5.5.0 BETA, because it displays it on the title page, and the location descriptions are showing up (which is awesome work guys, kudos). If we cant get this to work, do you at least have a link that will let me download the old front end? TFE-X seems awesome and I love it, but Im having more problems with it than I ever did with your previous version. EDIT: dont know if this will be helpful, but the movies display a black screen, and the voice skips once every second or so. Also, I do not get the ability to start in the caravan. Makes it hard to play a solo character that has to do one of the battles at start up, with no weapons or armor. My solo paladin got owned 6 times by three bandits with crossbows in melee range. very annoying
All I can suggest is that you re-do the installation procedure yet again, including the first step of deleting everything. If you're not seeing the shopmap at the start of the game, then the simple fact is that you're not playing the Co8 module, or that it's been horribly corrupted somehow through some maneuvering of your own. The new mod package and functionality of the front end are simpler than they've ever been: if you install them correctly - which involves nothing more than extracting files from a .rar archive and running the front end - there should be no possibility for game corruption. It's as simple as that. It's not as though activating a module works differently for different people. It's very straightforward. [edit] Your inability to use the level cap also suggests that you're not playing the Co8 mod.
Okay, Ive tried for more than a week to get this to work and I cant get it to. I only have one favor to ask, can you PLEASE, PLEASE put the old version back on for downloads? Everywhere I go to get it, it just re-directs me to this site, which no longer has the co8 5.0, because its considered "obselete". I have never had any problems with the old version, and this new version refuses to work Ive re installed more than a few dozen times, and I just keep getting the same errors. over. and over. and over. Its really frustrating. I think the last release was 5.0, I cant really remember, but its the one with just the check boxes on the front-end. I would really appreciate it if you could do this for me, I really want to play this game again. I even re ordered a new copy because I thought my old cd may have been corrupted. Still nothing works. Please help me out with this one...
Various older generation modules are available in the Downloads section here: http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2325 These have been 'converted' for use with the new front end, so all you have to do is extract their contents to your ToEE root directory, launch the front end, select the module from the list, activate it, and click play. But I suspect you may also have problems with that if you have problems with 5.5.0. If you're looking for the previous version of the front end (4.01), you're out of luck. It's no longer supported or hosted. But maybe someone who still has a copy will send it to you.
Well, in that case, does anyone happen to have a copy of 4.01 front end laying around in their computer? If you could somehow get it to me, I would be eternally thankful. Please let me know if anyone happens to find one, either through this thread or through a PM. Thanks for everyones time.
