Remember when online gaming was ruled by BBS's?

My personall favorite was LORD, I loved that game so much. It was pretty hype then to log on and battle against local wannabe hereo's, whilst building your character through quest.

Trade Wars was another favorite but damn it was awfully hard for a newb to figure out very quickly.

So what are some of your favorite old BBS games? Anyone host?

BBS stood for bulletin board system. You had to use your old dial up modem to call and log into them. They used ANSII graphical interfaces, and could host anywhere between a couple to several people online at once.

I guess it's just one of those things thats best left in the past

EDIT: and aside the the ansii graphics the games were text

Thanks for the history lesson. I never played any "text" games, except Zork and Under Apple Manor. if memory serves. Definitely never played a BBS game as described though.

A couple of other ones that I played were Hack &slash, BRE (barren realms elite) and the pit.
