    Hey,

Is it me, or are the bugbears pretty heavy duty in the H.P. department?

I was carrying out Belsornig's third task, and had to kill an ogre and bugbear, and plant the brown robe on them.

So, we find them, and I decide to focus on the ogre first, then the bugbear. The ogre had 58 hit points IIRC, and the bugbear had (I think) 93 (I lost count after 78).

    ????

I never would have thought a bugbear would have something like 20 or so hit points...am I missing something?

Real Men play on Max Hit Points!! But HP don't mean a thing when you cast Hideous Laughter on them or DC22 Phantasmal Killer, Slay Living

They have class levels. They are thinking "dammit, I ate a whole village of these humans last week and none of them cast fireballs at me!"

Oh yeah, gotta love 'em. Especially when they decide to exclusively pick on your Wizard, by repeated tripping and hitting!

yup, they love eating low-level wizards for breakfast. I wish the monsters in the nodes were that tough.

You could always give them wiz's proficiency with a long spear for some D. Though if they're like mine they're not very strong.

Unless of course your'e like this:

    reroll
    reroll
    reroll
    oh this ones close
    reroll
    reroll
oooooh this ones good enough to be my cleric, getting close
    reroll
    reroll
    reroll

I'm far worse, I rarely keep anything unless there are 3 or 4 16+'s and the total is 90 or so.

BTW, if each roll is an independent random event, there is no "getting close", just " that WAS (past tense) close". Each roll is a "fresh start".

Slap me if I keep lecturing.:zzz::zzz::blahblah:

I meant that close but not close enough, kinda like getting close but no cigar

Is a cigar just a cigar?

Yes, you can be close. But, you can't get closer. Each event is discrete.

I know what you are saying. I'm just "running my mouth" about nothing important. It's called lecturing. Ask my students. :lalala:

As for the cigar, ask a psychologist. He/she would also have a label for the phenomena of thinking you were "closer".

Actually, saying "Close, but no cigar", is dead-on. :dead:

Apologies to those who were offended by my calling a psycholoogist a he-she. It was not intentional? ;)
