Installed ToEE, Patch 1, Patch 2 and Co8 5.0.0 Final. Turned off the Auto Save on Map Changes. Started a new game. Wanted to use 6 PC's. Game wont do it though the Front End panel shows it should. After looting the Goblin just below the St. Cuthbert church, found I could not loot anything else in game. What's wrong?
Patch 1 probably not necessary, maybe not important. Check this: New Game ADD 6 characters, 5 will show, 6th won't. Start game, got 6? Other thing sounds like looting bug that comes from Directx.9c. Never had it. Should be fixed by 5.0.0 final. You can check that thread (forum search), or wait for someone who knows more than me (everyone) to help. Hang in there. Help is out there, and this game is GOOD.
Also, you are aware that you can add a 6th even if it only shows 5 portraits at the bottom? (You may very well be aware if that, but its counter-intuitive so I thought I would mention it).
Where did you find goblins near the church? There should not be any monsters in Hommlet in v.5.0.0 as far as I know. If no-loot bug persists, you are not using fixed .dll. Either your .exe has it in itself (that is unlikely since you have patch 2 installed) or you forgot to activate Co8 module in Front-End and are playing "vanilla ToEE" (as they say in readme). Or there is something else I do not know.
Didn't think to try and add new character through the Inn. Will try it. Using the Chaotic Good party intro which has a single goblin hanging around the Church. Was able to loot him. Unable to loot other monsters. Will try the leaving area trick, where you leave the Map and come back later and the monsters have disappeared but their loot remains in piles.
well, I've got some bad news for you, sunshine, coz you're playing the unmodified patch 2 version. Be sure, that when you open your game through TOEEFrontEnd, you take the co8 mod. In the beginning, the CG intro should be 'bout a bunch of elves in search for 2 nobles, no fight at all. When you enter north-hommlet, there shouldnt be any goblin near the church, the modders took that little bugger away. So, why is that bad news? Coz you're prolly have to start a new game.
Sounds right. Open front end Click the CO8-5.0.0 bar Check the "Clean Game Cache on Startup" square Start new game
Oh, and don't forget: - never use autosave on map exit - never use autosave at all, in fact - never use quicksave Why? Because those save-files corrupt so easy and fast, and be sure you don't want to restart after 4 levels.
That's true. What I do (for reasons of laziness mostly) is use quick-save, but save progress every leve-up.
Don't do that. Sooner or later it will bite you in the ass. The only truly safe method is to use multiple full saves. I usually rotate through five of them. That way you can go back if one of those gets screwed up, which also happens from time to time.
I must have missed something... I tried talking to a strange wizard type in a swamp but couldn't reach her (she spawned in the far bottom left corner of the map). Was this important? Also finally made it to Verbobonc. Got quset to look into the Drow and Freezing Merchants for the Lord Viscount. DO NOT have the key to open the door into the adventure location. What Happened?
The "wizard" was Gwenno. She would have given you a magical repeating crossbow. No biggie. There's a guy who's sometimes at the door to let you in, check for him.
Not the gnomes, I think it's the Gnome King or whatever he is. But Knock is good. Haven't been there in a while. Uh, how do feel if a spider falls on your shoulder? Do you freak or just brush him off? :nervous:
