I am running the TOEE with the Co8 mod and the launcher. I am using the launcher to let me have 6 people in my team.

The initial roster (Ftr,Ftr,Clr,Sor,Mnk,Rog) isn't working as well as I hoped. Specificly, I want to sack the monk for a 3rd fighter, and reroll the rogue, with different feats.

Ideally, I would just click the book and leave them in the tavern. SInce I have 6 heroes, not 5, the game crashes. I tried setting the launcher back to 5 PCs, but no change.

Is there any way to rework those two heroes without restarting?

First thing, strip the characters you're going to remove. Click on the book and click on the Monk, then select remove. Same thing for the rogue, so you're down to 4. Go to create and make new characters. Use the console to boost them up to where they were before. If it still ctd, then re-install.

    Re-install? Or just restart?

If after the process and the front-end wont go 6/2 and it still ctd's, then un-install 5.0 using the control panel, then go to ToEE root and delete everything 5.0 and restart computer. Re-install 5.0. If the game is corrupted to where it ctd's there is no cure but to re-install.

Okay, if it ctd's if you try to add a 6th character at a hotel, then it is definitely a bad install. Thanks, Mr Wiz, I did not know that. Sometimes, when I'm playing an Evil party (now), I like to hire Toruko and Company, then fill out past 4 PC's. Could save some wasted game time.

Start with 4 or less, add T & K, wander over to hotel register, "hire" 2 or more PC's. They will be naked of course.

Am I the only one who cheats? (Only when Evil, of course.) :transform

Ah, it cannot be done with other NPCs.

correct! That is my question. The only way I can imagine is to change their dialog files.

I'm sure I misunderstand the question.

    1. 4 PC's,
    2. add T & K,
    3. get anyone else, say Ronald and Priscella, the usual ways. (?)

    I don't do this. Usually:

    1. 4 PC's,
    3. + T&K,
    3. + 1/2 PC's
    4. T&K have "accidents" (1 or both)
    5. + 1/2 more NPC's.

Uh, Evil only, of course.

I cannot click on the book at all. It CTDs when I click on the book. I never even see the add/remove screen. Another post (This one)said that was because having 6 PCs causes memory addressing problems with the add/remove screen.

The post is from 2005, has the problem been fixed in newer versions of Co8?

I hate to ask, but did you set the Frontend to run the Co8 module? It sounds like you might be playing vanilla ToEE. Did you talk to Kent when you first got to Hommlet?

Are you using the 5.0.0 patch alone or the 5.0.6 CMF? That bug (CTD from book) was fixed by Spellslinger in a subsequent CMF.

    Erkper:
I do have Co8 enabled. (Extraplanar chest, Hommlet goblin missing, Smyth has MW items...)

    Shiningted:
    I am using 5.0.0. I will load 5.0.6 when I get home.

    [edit]
...Aaaand when I do, my old saves probably won't work... Well, I guess I needed the exercise running back and forth from Jaroo to Terjon. :)
