    I have TOEE, Patch 1, Patch 2, then CO8 5.0.0

When I launch the game it will go through 1-3 screens and once in a while I will see the Atari logo then it kicks to the desktop and nothign launches. I did install BIK already and still no joy. Anything to help me get this going again would be greatly appreciated.

This post has been moved into a separate thread as it clearly doesn't belong to the Windows Vista testing category. Please be more careful when making posts.

As for the problem itself, personally I have limited data on the ToEE's compatibility with 64-bit operating systems, XP and Vista alike, so I'll pass and let someone else more knowledgeable than me speak up. :)

This sounds like the traditional 'bink player is crashing' bug.

Try the no-cd crack for atari patch 2 and whether that helps or not. By installing 'BIK' do you mean that you installed RAD tools?

Yes I have installed the RAD tools. Is that not enough? I will try the no CD Crack and get back to you. THanks.

No worries. You may have some odd issues though if you add on the no-cd crack after installing any mods which include other .dll work. The CMF certainly has .dll work in it. So you may need to install that over the top of it again, if that makes sense.

One word of caution though, because I, like Agetian, have little knowledge of the 64bit stuff. So how compatible it is I don't know. So I'm pretending you have a 32 bit and crossing my fingers that the same old fixes work...

edit: should the no-cd not work, then the next step is to check your drivers for your gfx card are up-to-date and then after that go and find the movie files in your active module or install and then change the names of all the .bik files. You won't have movies but it should establish whether or not you have bigger problems than bink. But no-cd and drivers are quicker to do first and likely to work to fix this problem. Saying this now cos I am going for a cig or 10 now and may crash afterwards.

reinstalled Bink and your mod. Here is the order I did things in btw.

    Installed Game
    Installed Patch 1
    Installed Patch 2
    Installed Rad tools
    Installed CO8 Mod
    Copied over No CD EXE

So far I get past the opening screens and I think a video is supposed to start or the first Main menu and I see a small windowed DOS box and then it drops.

Still not working. I dont think this has anything to do with 64Bit XP as much as the order I am doing things as I have seen this error before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially if you guys/gals do Keep on the Border lands I am so looking forward to that.

Hmm, there are installation instructions in the downloads part of the forum which are pretty comprehensive. Off the top of my head, because I've not time to check, I think the no-cd crack has to go on before the Co8 and after that install the latest CMF. And then see if that helps.

Otherwise, I've nothing further to add to the edit I made to my post yesterday and the two suggestions there.

I use xp64, but unfortunately can offer no advice at all. For me, it just works. Right out of the box, usual patching and mod installation. To me that means it isn't a compatibility issue with x64, or I would also have it.
As to other troubleshooting, I'm sorry, but I can't help. It isn't x64 though.

Believe it or not I follow the instructions each time and nowhere in them does it say when to install the No CD crack, but I am going to do that after I install patch 2 before anything else. Also it does not say immediately when to install RAD tools, but I read that elsewhere.

Here is the link to the install instructions I have bookmarked, maybe this is obsolete.\

Ok uninstalled, deleted the original directories and tried it again still wont go. Ummma I wonder if I can ask a huge favor. Since it works for you, would it be possible for you to take the directory and zip it up and either place it on a FTP site or let me know and I can provide a temporary FTP site to upload it to.

I am fairly confident its not a registry bug, I am thinking it is something not getting copied down or getting overwritten. I am thinking just getting a working directory would allow me to get playing and killing things.

The installation instructions are current. The no-cd thing is because we can't encourage teh hacking. The RAD tools is something which may or may not work because the problem they may, and only may, fix for some people is a user/system specific thing.

Tis an old problem which is popping its head up more and more it would seem. Personally, I'm guessing it's because the game is aging now and being played on PCs which don't want to play old games. But most people do usually get it sorted in the end.

One thought, how about your graphics card settings? Have you tried turning them down/off to see whether it is that?

Hmmm let me turn off Sound and Turn down video to see what happens. Also do you guys use Compatability mode on the launcher?

That did not work, once my son gets his computer back up and running I will install it on his with is 32 bit and see what happens.

    Thanks for the help.

Sorry I can't help more - but this looks like it's either your video card or 64-bit xp is playing games with you. And I know nothing about either of them :(
