Ok so my game crashes now, I'm reinstalling. Whatever, not a big deal.

But as I'm alt tabbing between the install and other stuff, I catch a screen with a Hydra.

Are they in the game? I've seriously been playing this game for like 4 years now, and I can't even begin to remember fighting one. Am I just blissfully missing it every time through?

There are two or three hydras in the game. Look carefully in the temple.

(C.O.8 5.0.0) I found a hydra on temple level two in the south east portion of the map near the troll area. This hydra was in a circular room being kept as a pet by a troll.

What about adding hydras to the wandering monster list?.. or having wandering monsters in the temple itself... ie when not camping?. is it even possible?

Yes it is: its something I would like to see (and patrolling groups, with numbers and attitude dependant on the party's behaviour) but I have been a bit too busy to implement it.

Well, the problem with adding patrols is that it adds more XP to the game, and there's more than enough as it is now.

It couldn't hurt to make some of the current mobs patrol the Temple, though. Perhaps if you set the Temple on alert, or killed a high priest, it would be appropriate that a script would replace (some) surviving mobs with patroller versions of them, or something like that. But I think we have enough on our to do list as it is...

Well, we could make "wandering" versions of the monsters (different protos.tab entries) and drop the CR to 1 to minimize the Wandering XP...
