I went to verbocono after freeing some prisoners, but I have no idea how to get back there, how do you get back there?

Verbobonc does not show up on the Worldmap itself, but if you've been there, it should appear on the location list on the right side of the Worldmap. Just click the name.

Re: How do you get to verbobonc

What version of the Co8 mod are you using? If you are using 5.0, the access to Verbo is limited to trips with people who will take you there one time each. The folks who will do that are (if I remember right) the two female prisoners on Temple Level 2, the two merchant prisoners, Rufus, and I think someone else I can't remember right now.

If you are using the 5.0.x CMF, access to Verbo is easier, as it shows up on the Worldmap list after you get directions. (That's what I assumed you had in my first post, I forgot 5.0 had limited access.) As far along as your game sounds, I would probably just finish the game with 5.0 as is, then consider installing the 5.0.5 CMF. Yes, it's beta, but IMO it fixes a lot of bugs and adds more than enough value to the game to be well worth it.

Confusingly enough, its in the (recently revamped) Downloads section:

Circle of Eight Forum > ToEE Modding > Downloads > Game Modifications >
ToEE Cumulative Mods and Fixes Patch

Does one have to start all the way from the start of the game, aka, they can't use existing saves?

If so, I probably will probably go through the game right now, probably do all the quest in verbocono right now that I can, or wait until much later to go through all the missions.

Yes, if you upgrade to the 5.0.5 CMF, your old saves will be incompatable and you will have to start a new game. That's why I suggested you finish your current game before you install the CMF.

What if one has 8pc with no room for followers? How do you get to Verbobonc then? I have already made it pretty far in my game and I don't want to install the 5.0.5 patch and start over.

Unfortunately I think you miss out, unless you use the console.

What do you mean by console?

I guess that I will download the 5.0.5 patch and start over with 7. That really sucks because I was playing with the party that my friends and I have going in rl. I guess that the weaker ranger will be left out.

An unrelated question, how does one dismiss a NPC?

or you can go to the inn at either Nulb or Hommlett, use the guest registration book on the front table to remove a PC, go back and grab the NPC that will take you to Verbobonc. When finished with that, you can go back to the inn to get your PC back and use the console to bring his stats up to the level where he was before being removed.

    I hope I wrote that correctly/clearly.

Have you tried talking to the NPC and asking politely? Depending on the NPC, you can pick him/her back up when you are done with Verbobonc.

FYI, Basil's advice about the PCs appears correct, and you can console XP for the NPC if you leave him/her behind.

I thought that you couldn't get a PC back once you dismissed him?

How do you ask a NPC in your party anything? I have tried and nothing happens.

I am not a noob. I have played this game many times but I thought that these were rules.

Don't just click on the NPC, use 'talk' from the radial menu.

Its going to open up a whole nother world.
