Placeholder In many cases, there are no spell descriptions available in the help.tab for our Co8 custom spells. We need to provide SRD descriptions (or sensible variants) of all spells in the game for player information and convenience. Any volunteers interested in providing this service would be appreciated.
Ditto Ted, thanks. FYI, depending on how deep you look, you may see something suspicious in the game innards regarding Suggestion. It's not an error - we changed it to Dominate Monster (I think it was) to more accurately reflect what the spell actually does.
No problem. I will stick this to the task at hand - getting SRD-ish descriptions in place for all spells.
Eerr...it's that THE Jesse Heinig? Great! Could it be that the tide it's coming back? Btw, i dont have the time to write descriptions, but i could spare a few minutes to scan whatever it's needed (D&D 3.5 Edition - Dungeons & Dragons - Spell Compendium) and post it.
@Jesse - Do you think you could look over the existing descriptions too for consistency? From memory, some of them seem excessively SRD-ish (wall of numbers effect), while others are more chit-chatty. You've shown sound judgement in the ones you've already done, so if we could get a universal tone across the board, 'that would be terrific.' (- Bill Lumbergh)
Sure. I usually prefer to use the short descriptions from the SRD, but I will occasionally edit them slightly for brevity or consistency, and I usually add a minor parenthetical at the end if they include an xp/gp cost.
Just FYI, I haven't dropped this project, but while going through some names I found some spells that might be straightforward to implement, so this has sort of turned into "spell descriptions + more high-level spells."
Jesse: if it is possible, can we have 'zone of truth'? Its not something that could be implemented in ToEE but like much of what I do, it would be nice to have on the table for future modules.
I suppose . . . it's really easy to add it as a radiated effect. Most likely it would become one of those things where you add a hidden inventory item and check against that during dialog. I'll see what I can finagle for ya.
Jesse, I'm working on adding Suggestion back in [correctly]. Previous modders turned it into Dominate Monster (but kept the name). I want to: a) Change the current spell to Dominate Monster (i.e., use real name) and leave it "as is". b) Add Suggestion back at proper levels (Bard 2, Cleric/Sorc/Wiz 3). I am looking for a "generic" combat or noncombat effect, but the main purpose will be to allow modders to use san_spell_cast scripts. Will this interfere with the work you have planned? --thearioch
Ugh! Sorry to pile more burdens onto you Jesse but there are also some new spells in KotB (or spell-effects to be more specific) - could you take those into account so we can have a seamless transition? Please?
Nope, knock yourself out. Basically I'm just updating one of the text files and adding a few new spell scripts. Feel free to do whatever you want with existing spells.
