    Hiya,

Just got down to Temple Level 4 and my goodness it's hard! I think this may have something to do with me having ticked "Max HP for enemies" since I breezed through Temple Level 3...

Anyway, I wondered if some of you could shed some light on some rather frustrating issues I've just come across. I couldn't find anything on them in the forum by searching (apologies if I've missed something though).

    1) Saving the game has suddenly started taking an enormously long time - literally 2 minutes to do a save. Previously it was taking about 20 seconds to save; on Temple Level 3 it started taking over a minute; now on Level 4 it's taking over 2 minutes. When I leave the Temple and go back to Hommlet, saving is down to 20 seconds again. Is this other people's experience? I was wondering if it was because of all the corpses lying around - perhaps this is slowing it down?

Would clearing map cache have any effect on this? I haven't ticked this option so far because the game was running fine, and knowing how buggy it is I prefer not to fiddle with things when it's working!

    2) When I finished fighting the 4 Trolls in the first room on the right-hand-side of Temple Level 4, suddenly a Temple Commander (Bakinar?) appeared out of a secret door at the back of the room, so combat continued. However I was virtually unable to target the chap - I could target him with a Charge action, but everything else said "target blocked". This applied to missile weapons, targetted spells, full attacks etc etc. Presumably it was because of an oddity of where he was standing in the doorway. I even Dimension Doored my sorcerer behind him and he was still untargetable from behind.

Has this been noticed before? I ran away to see if he'd follow me out of the room but he just sat there and cast spells on himself. In the end I reloaded from before the troll fight, intending to open the secret door myself during combat so that he couldn't get stuck in it. But when I entered the room he was standing there at the back, with the secret door closed, doing his paralysed impression. He was now fully targetable but didn't take actions, and when I killed him he stayed standing in place.

    3) I completed the Cure for Amii quest and ordered an Amulet of Mighty Fists (+4) from the Woodcutter. Now every time I go back he says he hasn't got the order yet - even after about 10 days. Is there any guidance on how long I have to wait? I'm thiking of just consoling the blessed thing into existence...

    Thanks!

    Hi Riven,

    1. That seems like an inordinately long time to save a game, but ToEE is quirky. Clearing the game cache shouldn't affect that, but there's no harm in trying it. The only consequence is that it will take the game longer to load.

    2. Sounds like a fluke. Barkinar walks around, so I suppose it's quite possible that you could catch him in places that 'break' him somehow.

    3. Wait for it.

Thanks for the advice! Clearing the map cache didn't seem to make any difference unfortunately. I also had a lot of fun with hideous lag in the area just north(ish) of where you fight Hedrack and his mates - the screen freezing for over a minute when I tried to move it (each time). Used the arrow keys instead of the mouse and it seemed to work alright.

At least the long save times seems to be restricted to Temple Levels 3 and 4. It's fine in the Locked Level. Guess my computer (or my installation) doesn't like lots of monsters around!
