I too have the same problem, and I too am using the time-restricted demo. ToEE2.dat, ToEE3.dat and tig.dat extract fine, but when I try to extract ToEE1.dat or ToEE.dat in the modules subfolder the program just starts to madly create (null) folder.
If you could, I would majorly appreciate this, download my posted ToEEditor skeleton and see if that will work with the dat files? It won't extract them yet, but I did just wake up, and have some time this morning, but it will construct the Directory structure and you should be able to browse the files. If it doesn't work, I am more than curious to know why they would hcange the dat format for the demo'd version. Presumably to keep what we are doing to the commercial one unavailable.
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0x1150 (4432 ), Thread id=0x11d0 (4560). That was drag-n-drop.. want me to try something else? except... it does that with all the files.....
It doesn't just crash when you drag-n-drop something on it, it crashes in the same way when you start it directly. We probably don't have all the dll's.
Ok, heh, first thing, you don't drag and drop on the exe. It is not a console application, and I am currently not parsing for CMD line parameters. Just fire it up. However, you don't have the .NET distribution package thus why you are getting that exception. Sorry to use it, but it is fast and efficent. I went ahead and made a quick installation package. (Get Installation Package here 3.3 meg) That should contain all the dependancies you need. If not, let me know ASAP and I will go ahead and fix as I am basically sitting here today -- my email ( ToEE@onarom.com ).
Still doesn't work for me. (same error message) Sorry. I installed it using Setup.exe. Am I supposed to run InstMsiA.Exe/InstMsiW.Exe too manually or are those called by Setup.exe ? Both of these give me an error about not using the right OS. It's locallised in Dutch for me so I can't tell you the error exactly, but it should translated pretty close too "Wrong (version of) OS for application". For the record: I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 1.
Yeah, that was my bad on the packaging. THe updated code can be nabbed at http://www.onarom.com/ToEEditor.htm
I emailed back and Updated. Plays all the sound files, views all the image files except for the tga's, working that now. Then I am halfway done with a map sticher, which grabs all the files in a particular map directory and generates one big map. Then it is on to finishing the extraction process. If anyone has comments/suggestions, by all means.
