Hmmm... well, when you give him the orb he takes you down to Hedrack - I don't know if you have the option to put it off or otherwise refuse yet, and I don't know if he'll still be at his spot on level 2 afterwards. I may have to try that. The trick will be doing it all before I get to level 7, heh, because that's when I plan to give my fighter his first paladin level :)

Lemme know what they say. If you want to add that you have my support and that I'm willing to "supervise" and keep an eye on the project, you can tell them so. But you probably have more free time to take on the project (I have so little, really). And as previously mentioned, I'm quite dumb. :biggergri (Don't tell my students.)

That would be nice LP, but the next version of the modpack will be rather different enough from the current one that it might be better to wait on it, just to be topical. But 'wait' is the key word - it could be quite some time yet. :blank:

If you wanted to, I suppose you could start working on one now and just update it later ...

Hmmm... noticed something else a little odd with the way the troll quests are finished off. If you tell the troll to work for water temple, then Allrem's quest 1 gets marked as red in your log. But if you tell the troll to work for fire, then what happens depends on if you'd gotten Water's quest to get the troll. If you had gotten the water quest to get the troll, then next time you talk to the water priest , the quest 1 remains blue and you get quest 2 added to your log (also blue). If you -hadn't- talked to Water before, quest 1 gets added to your book in pink color and quest 2 is added as blue.

I wonder if it means anything, like perhaps if you give the troll to Allrem, and then he is killed, you can make the troll switch back to Water? The dialog file doesn't rule it out, there -are- lines like "Oh, fire priest dead? Okay, me join water" and such.

Well, either it somehow allows for both quests being completed after all, or the water quests aren't being closed out properly upon failure. Just thought I'd mention it.

And another thing... if you give the troll to Water, then you won't get the reputation "Member of Fire Temple" even after you complete Alrrem's second quest, although his guards won't attack you even without wearing Fire robes. Also, you can complete Earth's first quest, and you'll get the "Member of Earth Temple" rep, but Earth critters will still attack you if you're not wearing earth robes. Maybe the two issues are linked?

Well, here's the good news: You -can- give the orb to Allrem, then kill him at any time and get it back. You can do so right away by rejecting the blindfold to go down to Hedrack, or you can let him take you down, then come back up and kill him and still get it. So that quest doesn't really create any issues as far as satisfying all the priests (prior to whacking 'em) after all.

Oh, and if anyone's curious, nothing special happens if you have more than one priest take you down to Hendrack. After the first time, if you ask a priest to take you down it's pretty much just a teleport down to Hendrack, but no conversation is started. That apparently only happens the first time.

Another note for anyone planning on trying out what I've done here:

Apparently, after you have Romag (Earth Temple guy) send you down to Hedrack, he will no longer be at his original place. I looked around and couldn't find him anywhere, so looks like you miss out on his xp and loot. I just found this out, looong after the fact. Teh suck. Heh.

I recommend, if you're going to try this, don't bother having more than one guy send you down to Hedrack (if that, even). Just complete their quest, tell 'em you need time to prepare, then whack 'em.

Also, kinda oddly, my paladin (well, he was a fighter when he completed all the quests, I gave him his first pallie level at 7) is apparently unable to piss anyone off! Heh. I'm halfway through wiping out earth temple, and yet he can still go anywhere, chat it up with the locals, etc.

[Bringing up a bit old thread, but I couldn`t find anything more "fresh" that would be suitable]

I tried to achieve just that, hoping to determine whether it would be possible to have Oohlgrist join the Water Temple after Alrrem is dead. But no matter what I do, the "Oohlgrist for Water" quest always gets botched and marked as red in my log.
Shame, as I think it would be logical for him to switch sides after Fire Temple is no more. Especially with, as you mentioned, appropriate lines being there in the dialog file.

P.S. Thanks for the information in this thread, Qwinn. Very useful.

Edit: Ah-ha, I think I`ve found out why I couldn`t trigger these conditions.
One of the minor fixes by Sitra Achara, dated a month ago:
"A fix for a few Belsornig lines that failed to botch the Oohlgrist quest."

Dang, I feel it`s discussable whether this fix was really a fix or whether there was (or should be) a way to have Oohlgrist join Fire, and after that Water if things are done in the right order.
I might be as well wrong, though. Anyway, guess I have to accept the fact it`s not (never was?) possible and deal with the ugly red colored quest in my log.

Aesendil, I've checked this out - currently, once Oohlgrist is recruited to a temple, you can't get him to join the other - the dialogue node to recruit him demands that you hadn't yet recruited him to another Temple.
And strangely, the fix that I've implemented already existed in Troika Patch 2 - but somehow this change was reverted in one of the Co8 patches (probably by mistake rather than by design).

But if you'd like to start modding yourself, maybe this could be a good introduction. You can alter Oohlgrist and Belsornig's dialogues to allow for switching sides after recruiting him already. Ted's modding tutorials should bring you up to speed.

Good to know that for sure. One cannot always get what one hopes for. Thank you for looking at it.

I briefly went over Ted`s tutorials shortly after I had discovered the Circle of Eight. Not an easy read for the layman with little to no knowledge about programming, modding or scripting. Especially the parts where 'techincal' stuff was getting really complicated. Yet a good read nonetheless, just like the forums here, allowing me to learn a good deal about the game itself, as well as the game mechanics. Ever since I promised myself that should I ever get more spare time on my hands, I would look into things in more detail and try to grasp the "how-to-dos". Maybe the time will come one day, that`s of course assuming it won`t all prove to be well beyond my capabilities. Meanwhile, makes me appreciate all the more the work done here.
