So, I'll start my posting future here with the required 'stupid questions', of which I have a few. Firstly, doing the 'desperate housewives' quest: I have a 'List' in my inventory, but I cannot read it. Because of this I have to keep using a walkthrough which I hate doing.. Using the walkthrough (as a list of who to see) is a character I cannot find - a 'ghost housewife' in Hommlet. Where/when will I find her? Another thing is with random encounters. Many times I hit a random encounter only to find the game totally unresponsive. The party will be surrounded by Lizardmen or whatever, not in combat and unable to perform any actions. Is this a known bug? I have started saving every time I go to a new location, and every time I camp in the wilderness as it seem to happen a lot. Any help is appreciated!
1) To read the list(or any other list,book,parchment,etc...), drag it on the "use item" button. 2)To find the "ghost wife" you might want to search the house of Laszlo the shepherd and listen to his story 3) Saving on random maps it's a known bug. Usually it corrupts saved games, so DON'T do it! As about the combats not starting, try hitting the "C" button.
Ah.. I'd never used the button.. Most stuff is shift-click for info about magic items, or I access it through the radial menu... Thanks for the info on not saving.. I fell for that a few times! About the combats.. I tried that, but nothing happened. I can select party members (so they get the blue circle under them) but right click does nothing, and 'c' does nothing. Escape works though! Thanks for the reply, I'll go and search Laszlo's house. I've completed all his tasks a while ago so he just says 'Good Day' or whatever.. I wish the journal kept more detailed information. Edit: I can't find anything in Laszlo's house, and the conversation is dead.. I like my characters as they are too.. I guess I'll have to leave the quest to die. Thanks for your help though.
The first room in Laszlo`s house (the one you enter to and where he and his son are located) is in fact an interior of the barn. Look carefully - behind Laszlo you`ll notice the door leading to the living quarters. As to the conversation part - he has no information that can help you with the quest in any way. I`m not sure what causes your other problem, that is random encounters acting the odd way. Saving on random maps works just fine for me (the only time my save got corrupted was.... in Hommlet), just like initiating combat.
Saving on random encounters and have the game freeze, it's a known issue. There are other places that have the same or similar problems, so, the best way it's to rest in safe areas, or enter a small room and close the door, thus you''ll avoid random encounters. resting in Emridy meadows has a common problem , it's a random one but it will happens at some point (you rest, and get interrupted by a a party of Trolls, the combat starts, and everyone is in combat position, but noone does nothing and nonoe have action "point" in the bar, so you can't move, cast or do anything, not even pass, you have to reset)
Sorry for my absence, Ummma, Aesandil's right re Laszlo's wife. You can find her in the adjacent room. What I meant about talking to him was that,from his story you'll gather that she's not actually a "living" creature. A ghost, maybe? :shrug: Also, you'll need some item from Calmert( or you could scribe it) in order to complete the quest.
Thanks for your help everyone! I don't know what was going on with the Ghost quest. I updated to the 5.0.5 pack (and started the game afresh) and everything was ok. Half Knight - That sounds like the problem I has having, but in locations other than Emridy - That'll teach me for roughing it where there be monsters about!
