After putting so much effort into getting this game to run on Vista and installing patches etc. ... I'm trying hard to like this game.

Is there any way to use another music file for ToEE? Or better yet have several music files to play in different game stages? I find the same music playing throughout the game repetitive and boring and distracts from getting further into the game ... it always feels like i'm just on the surface of playing it.

Also, the game needs much more cut scene development.... at least to make up for the flatness of navigating and limmited perspective - again can't get into it. The game seems very flat to me on so many levels- not to mention superficial and melodramatic with constant repetative banter of "right away. i think i can do that. you got it... blah blah blah."

A lot of times its all very off-putting to me.

Any way i think in the future they will come out with a lot more cinematic and sweeping immersive RPG games... with simillar budgets and quality that are spent on films.

    thanks for moding.

If the background music and character voices bother you, you can always select no sound in the Front End. Or, you could go to the in-game options (hit the O key) and in the Audio tab you could turn the volume down or off for the music and voices, leaving the sound effects on.

ToEE could use a few more tracks, yet I find the existing ones of a good quality. They compose with the background well.

As to the cut-scenes - it`s not what makes up a good cRPG, I can live without them. Sure, they are interesting if done properly, but... never felt to me like a must.
The flatness of navigating and limited perspective?

I hope in the future the focus of RPG games remains on polishing dialogue options, plots, multitude of choices and tactical combat, instead of eye-candy cinematics and graphics getting too much attention. "Surprisingly" that`s something a lot of the films with great budgets tend to lack.
A sweeping immersion... the imagination plays a big part in this. It always does.

Each to his own, I guess.

Yeah, i guess i should have some imaginary conversations and such. but really the only bik files are for the beggining and entering the Temple and the ending. Other than the music score are there sound effects like music and singing like in Baldur's Gate? I just loaded that game and though i'm not impressed i think they did a lot of work in atmospheric sound and voice acting.
The sound is just as important as the visual experience.
But Baldur's gate seems like a lot of go fetch this from here and bring it over there kind of tediousness. Plus when you really need some help from your hirelings they can runaway from a failed moral check.

Being Gaear the Co8ter responsible for music, sound and flashy stuff, he should know better, but i think he posted a pack of movies, in the download section.

Btw, i agree, movies aren't a must, but still i really enjoy them if they are available. Overall, i prefer the artistic style, not the animated 3D ones. You can bet i'm going to drive Co8 crazy to implement more of that stuff ;)

Lately, i've been playing Dungeon Siege II, and i think that all the miscellaneous stuff (movies, sound, etc) are simply perfect. (tho i would preferred something different than the crude, stiff 3D animations)

As for graphics...really, i prefer the isometric view. I'ts far more simplier, and better suited for a rpg (while something like Dungeon Siege gets better results with 3D rotation), and ToEE it's amazing in that aspect...pity we don't have zoom, to apreciate more details.

I have to say, I'm actually quite pleased with much of the game aspects re music and graphic. It could be better,it could be worse. The Co8 work improved it dramatically, anyway. Plus, you have the voice&portraits pack to add. I,honestly, prefere this game to a game with wonderful movie like picture and s**t playbility, bad camera moving,etc..... The only thing I miss, and I so agree with HK, it's the zooming!!!!!!!!!!

If you're willing to learn to mod a bit, you can customize the soundtrack however you like. See the custom soundtrack tutorial among Shiningted's modding tutorials here.

As Half Knight says, there are additional game movies available here. Nothing dazzling, but they should be serviceable.

There's also the throne elevator movie. And there are two versions of the ending, and 9 different variations of the opening vignettes.

There is music for bard songs, and Zaxis and Ronald sing, but that's about it.

Thanks Gaear , thats helpful: the more modding the more extraordinary the game becomes
i could see other areas of greyhawk being fleshed out to so it becomes like a bg2. But i'm not sure if the engine is up to bg2 - i haven't played it yet.

zooming would help ... i don't know maybe with enough interest Atari will redo the engine
and make it into a modding heaven like the nwn1 & nwn2 games.

i think someone was working on a ToEE mod in nwn2 - but it would take considerably more work to port it all the way and beyond.

i'll look into the shinning teds music tutorial..

Atari should at least release a devpack for the game engine if they don't want to touch it again.

I just wish that the fight sceans had optional music to either select from or submit yourself. I hate to say it but the fight music they have in now makes me think of fat women trying to go to a dance party. Some aspect of the music I think they should actually keep, but the dorkey time ticking and the fat chick sis-boom-bah HELL NO!!!

The only part I think they should keep in the fight scean music they have now is the "Sinister Time Warp" Diablo style echo and thats it; nevertheless I wish they would add more hard-core music on top of that. Nothing tacky or spoony but more like dark sinister dungeon slayer style music, opinions are like @$$holes, everyones got one but I think if players could build a continual interface to mod to the game like a "selectable" fight scean music interface in the "audio" tab on the options menu, that would be great! Then the mod patch for the music could be updated with music every week, with pretty near everyones choice, not just myown.
