Run the TOEE Front-End with No-CD Patch...and nothing happens.

You'll probably have to order a PCI video card for it. And, it may require being a low-profile card.

It'll probably be easiest for you to find something like this.

nVidia PCI low-profile FX 5500 with 128 MB or 256 MB DDR

Otherwise, it's time for a new computer.

Also am looking at a PNY Verto GeForce FX 5200 card. Which would you get? The GeForce is about $20.00 more.

I'm having a similar problem as the fellow in the OP but I'm using the Windows Vista Operating System. I've installed ToEE with patches 1 and 2 then install the V2 patch no cd patch. At this point I start the game just to make sure it is working and find that everything is working fine. Next I install the Co8 mod pack v5 and everything seems to go smoothly until I try to launch the ToEE Front End from the desktop shortcut installed by the Co8 mod pack. As soon as I attempt to launch the front end I get an error message which reads:

"0002: Error: One of the game folders can't be accessed! Make sure no other application uses any of the game folders, then try again."

I'm really at a lose as I have already went to explorer and made sure the security settings were set so that all users and applications can access the entire atari folder. Anyone have any idea about what this error code could mean or how I would get the Co8 mod to work? As I said the regular game with patch 2 works just fine and it is only when I try to install the Co8 mod pack that the game won't launch (and I know I'm clicking on the correct front end icon, that patch 2 is installed, and that Vista automatically comes with .net 2.0).

 

Oh, before anyone asks here's my system information:

2.13 Ghz dual core CPU
Window's Vista Home Premium 32 bit
2 GB of Ram (with a 4 GB of virtual ram)
A Radeon X1300/X1550 graphics card
and the rest is all pretty standard stuff.

The C08 mod sounds really great so I would love to play it though it seems I have to iron out a bug first. I'm dying to get playing so any help or ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: BTW everything is installed in the default installation directories for both the Atari installation and the Co8 mod installations.

 

Just FYI, I've been playing with this for about 40 minutes and I just got it fixed. The short version of the story is you have to modify the attributes of the .exe file so that it runs in XP SP2 emulation mode as an administrator. Any other setting and the mod doesn't work but luckily you can still run the mod in Vista with a few changes.

 

Ugh! I'm back to square one.

Having finally got the Co8 mod pack to launch I am now having trouble with the no CD patch. Before Co8 mod was installed the no CD patch was working fine but after Co8 was installed it seems to be disabled and the game keeps asking me to insert ToEE Play disk. :grumble:

Anyone know of a no CD patch which works with the Co8 mod or am I S.O.L.?

Follow Krunch's instructions from post #7 of this thread. That is the no-cd I use that I needed for the same reason ("insert the already inserted play disc.") I have had an issue once or twice with the FrontEnd error message, but nothing that at worst a restart didn't fix.

If you absolutely can't get TOEE to run through the FrontEnd, you could always install the Co8 mod w/o the Frontend, but I would save that for a last resort.

BTW Lord knows no one is likely to be stealing the game given that I picked my copy up in a bargin bin for $3.99 and Amazon has copies listed for $4.87.

 

I am running into exactly the same problem.

Running Windows XP with an Intel 2.4 C2D and a Nvidia 8800GTX.

I started off installing the game, patching to 3, and using the NO-CD patch from TEXT REMOVED. The screen would go black like it's loading, flicker for a second, and then crash back to desktop.

I uninstalled and then installed the game, patched to 2, installed the unofficial patch, and used the 2.0 NO-CD patch from TEXT REMOVED. The same thing.

I then added the Mobieus temple.dll file to the previous installation. I got to the Wizards of the Coast screen, and then crash to desktop.

Any help is appreciated.

 

Do not do that. Only patch ToEE to the Atari patch2.

I apologize for not being more clear in my original post.

I was merely explaining the all of the processes I went through. Initially, I did it incorrectly as you mentioned. However, I went to this website and followed the detailed instructions, and it still did not work.

I just installed the 169.21 drivers from Nvidia yesterday, but I still crash to desktop after the studio intros.

Unfortunately, I don't believe either of those issues are happening to me. All of my video card's settings are set to application controlled, and I have used the Securom NO-CD patch since the beginning. There must be something else.

I'm going to try a clean reinstall, but other than that, I don't have any ideas. But I'm damn determined. :joy:

 

Well, I tried reinstalling to my Boot Camp MacBook Pro and it worked perfectly.

I find that really odd, considering that my MacBook is utter shite compared to my desktop.
