Welcome to the Circle of Eight forums and to playing the Temple of Elemental Evil!

First of all, which patches you install will depend on what version of the game you wish to play. (Don't worry, it's not that complicated.) Are you planning on downloading the Co8 mod pack or are you going to play the origional game as released by Atari? (Referred to here as the "vanilla" game.) If you are going to play the vanilla game, try to install all 3 patches in order. Some versions of the game (particularly those d/l'd off the internet) may come pre-patched and if your game refuses to patch that is probably why. IIRC, the patches should find the default directory automatically - you should only need to find the install path if you changed the installation path when you installed the game. That is all you need to do to play the origional Atari version of the game.

If, on the other hand, you want to play the Co8 mod (or if you find the vanilla game still too buggy even after the Atari patches) you will need to find the download section of this forum and read the comprehensive installation instructions by Zebedee - they are very complete and accurate, so read carefully and follow to the letter. Note that for a Co8 modded game, you should not install the Atari patch 3 as all Co8 mods are based off a patch 2 game and patch 3 may cause it to do strange things and/or just not work right.

    Have fun!
