So I just discovered about Co8 5 ;) but if I make them 10th level fighters, people are more likely to attack them for the 'challenge'. :tired:

Thanks for the feedback re Billy, I'll have a look at that :)

    Re post 247

Ted, I believe that that was indeed the dialogue option that I chose.

    suspected front end issues

    Hi All,

just updated to V1.0.3 patch - removed all the maps from the file as directed, installed patch

started toee then went back to kotb.

Started new party - i get a blank screen - then a quick flash of the menu bars at the bottom then up comes the total party kill screen.
dumped back into menu to restat again - same thing happens

on quitting out the error dialogue comes up

    appname: t0ee.exe
    appvers:0.0.0
    mod name: temple.dll
    modvers: 0.0.0
    offset:000C1209

now I notice in the front end it says kotb v1.0.3 so it is the right patch but in the KOTB main menui screen it is still V1.0,

also if I start to play the CO* TOEE mod - I have a total crash as well after I kit up and get the alignment quest screen.

BTW the demo gives me wood - great work to all involved looking forward to more of the same would love to see tharizdun done - would be gold all round!

If you are having a complete lose in both the Co8 module and the KotB module, I am afraid it is the engine. You'll have to do a total re-install :( Sorry bout that.

The screen says 'V 1.0' because we aren't going to change the graphics for every little update, just the major ones.

EDIT: Fixed the Innkeeper bug Jadefang found, still working on the Blacksmith.

I'm not sure it's a bug, but having right now started doing my new party (CB) for KoB I can't use other portraits than the "base" ones, that is a annoying poor choice.
I know it's impossible to use Co8 Portatraits and Voices pack, but the readme speaks of "50 new PC portraits" I cannot use.

In addition (this is surely a bug), I had to stop my previous game due to a save error: every time I speak to the Druid and try to save, KotB crashes and jump me back to desktop...I tried everything (not saving right after the dialogue, do other thing first) but it was sure as hell that I couldn't save without crashing, having talked to that Druid...or better, I could save (the save file exixst, and it is loadable), but loading it make the game crash again...
I play with 8 PC (pregenerated the first time), mostly human, using console only for one stat (fighter CON, poor 13 -.-), on Win XP, game patch 2.0

@sirchet: Here is what you asked about concerning Vista.

    to set compatibility mode
    Open Windows Explorer.
Locate the executable of a program.
Right-click the executable and click Properties in the popup menu.
    Click the Compatibility tab.
Select the option to Run this program in compatibility mode for.
Choose an operating system from the dropdown list.
    Click OK.

    to run with elevated rights
    Open Windows Explorer.
Locate the executable of a program.
Right-click the executable and click Run As Administrator in the popup menu.

    Hi Ted
I have a few bugs to report for patch 1.0.3 .
1.) I have had 1 CTD. I was returning from my second visit to the Spider Forest, when I encountered the Ranger ( he still doesn't mark anything on the Worldmap ). I saved the game so I could try different dialogue options. After parting ways with the Ranger, I returned to the Keep: main gate. I started to walk towards the Inn and the game crashed
2.) I also have had the Smith refuse to do business with me after the first transaction.
3.) When I first encountered the Mad Hermit and the bandits showed up, my wizard put two of them to sleep. When my fighter Coupe De Graced them, the Hermit attacked me.
4.) I talked to Flay, after getting some silk, but BEFORE rescuing the merchant. When he mentioned needing more silk one of my Dialogue options was "Your suppliers .......... (Explain what you learned in the Forest)" even though I hadn't even spoken to the merchant yet.
5.) I was still able to use my Rogue to "sneak" my party through the Spider Caves.
6.) is there supposed to be a die roll for "Animal Empathy" or at least a way of selecting the skill ( like sneak or power attack )? If so Animal Empathy is not working for my Druid who has a Survival Skill rating of 10. I am not able to select the skill from the radial menu, and nothing shows up in the die - roll box to indicate whether or not the skill is being used successfully or not. By the way, skinning animal checks are not showing up in the die-roll box either. It slightly annoyed me when the Druid wasn't able to successfully skin any of the 3 Mountain Wolves that attacked the party with a bunch of Goblins.

Actually you can use portraits and sound from the Portrait and voices pack...am doing so now without any problems. However, as Ted mentioned earlier in this thread the portrait and sound mod is not compatible with kotb....so here's a workaround that worked for me...

Sound - if you have unzipped the sound files from the portrait and voices mod, just put them into the appropriate folders and it works.

Portraits - you have to use the "Chris Glenn" method. If you search the CO8 forum for Chris Glenn, it will list step by step how to add the portraits. This can be found under the custom portraits thread dated Sep 25, 2005.

Yah. The '50 new portraits' thing was what held up the release of the Demo on Jan 29: we tried for a week to get it happening then released without it. It will come, and it will be worth the wait, but it hasn't happened yet.
I'm trying very hard to get to the bottom of all the CTDs, but this sounds like a straightforward corrupt save. Of course I'm also trying to get to the bottom of anything that might corrupt them, but thats been part of the fun of ToEE for as along as I remember. Anyway, what were you talking to the Druid about? First conversation? Telling him about a quest?
Damn, that was reported in the beta testing and i thought I fixed it. I'll have a look.
Corpsers, bandits - that hermit is just damn trigger happy! I might have to flag him to flee unless directly attacked :(
Couple of things I missed there.
I put a lot of effort into trying to show the rolls in the box, but only saving throws can easily be scripted AND show up. Liv did too, if I understood something she said correctly, and she didn't find a way to my knowledge: I just don't think it can be done. The thing is, I am not making actual skill check calls to the engine: I am just doing them 'manually' with a random d20 throw and a comparison. I am trying to come up with a workaround though.

A survival thing of 10 should work more often than not. Are you getting 'wild empathy failed!' floatlines or no floatlines at all?

Still working on that freaking Blacksmith.

Which animals are you thinking of? Can you give me some specific examples? I already found the wolf near the lake on the Hermit's map had been set to attack rather than go through his Wild Empathy check, so there might be others (there shoudn't be any like that, but where there was 1 there might be more).

I didn't see many wild empathy checks, neither.
I thougth it was intended that way.

In any case, i've seen just a few (maybe 5-8 times, all failed), but when i got close to the big bear in the west side of hermit's woods, i got suddendly a row of floating lines about "failed wild empathy check" in quick succesion, as if rolled 3 or 4 times for the bear. The combat was set, but he didn't attacked the first round.

not shure this is a bug persay, but you might still want to check it out. In the mad wizard tower, the knock spell worked on the magic held door in the basement. This I find kinda defeats the point of going through the quest. When I opened it, with my lvl 5 wizard, the words 'door was unlocked' and then 'arcane spell broaken' appeared above it and then it opened, allowing me to just walk in. While I kinda like the idea that a more powerful wizard and overide the spell, i hink the info on 'knock' says it cannot be used on magic locks.
