My system spec is an ancient AMD AthlonXP 2800+ with 1GB RAM and a Geforce 6600 running Forceware 169.21, Windows XP with SP-2.
At first, I patched the game with the official patch #1-#3 and Temple of Elemental Evil Unofficial Patch by Moebius. Then someone told me I should patch up to Atari patch 2 and install the Co8 5.0.0 modpack, the game suddenly becomes a lot more stable, a little harder, and has a bunch of new things to do too.

Patch up to #2 and installed Co8 5.0.0 modpack with its latest patch.
When entering Nubb, the game crashed again.

Using ToEE front-End to launch the game with the following setting: Max lvl = 20, Max HP per level, Clean Game Cache On Startup and Disable intro movie.

I was thinking reinstalling the game with the official #2 patch only. What's the different between having Co8 mod installed / not having Co8 mod installed?

I would suggest you install the Co8 5.0.5 CMF after installing the Co8 5.0.0 MOD, use ToEEFE.exe to launch the front end and, then, start ToEE. (You would need to start a new game, not use any previous saved games.)
...about 3 years of game development, fixes and new content plus updates for SRD rules compliance

I have the patch but unsure how to install it. Is it just copy and paste them into ToEE folder?
Also, how to check if the mod is up-to-date?

Your pic shows that you installed the 5.0.5 CMF correctly - in the module descrition to the right, it says "patched to version 5.0.5" and gives the date of the CMF rev. Did you get the Nulb crash before or after patching to the 5.0.5 CMF? One theory for the Nulb crashes is that it was related to the zombie signpost, which was removed by the latest CMF.

After installing the CMF 5.0.5 patch, did you start a new game? Or carry on with an old game? If you were to carry on from an older game, it will cause of your crash. The embedded sectors for the entire game seem to be logged and stored in the save files, and if they are changed the engine can't handle it and crashes, as it is they have been changed on that map in CO8-5.0.0 and a new game is required as is stated in the CMF thread.

@krunch; leaving the level cap box unchecked, or checking it and setting it to level 20 makes no difference, it's exactly the same result.

Clear the map cache before going to Nulb, that has been reported as fixing a lot of the Nulb bugs.

I'd also recommend throwing on the No-CD crack (google it - you want the one for Atari patch 2) as part of your installation (put on straight after installing Atari patch 2). Seems to fix a lot of problems but your mileage may vary.

I spent ages trying to replicate the Nulb crash bug but the only way I could get it was to screw up my installation. It could well be that the problem is that some files are not deleted properly when people reinstall so there's some mess-up there. Would recommend always deleting the Atari/Toee folder and then running something like CCleaner to clear up the registry before doing a reinstall.

You mean the option "Clean Game cache On Startup" of Front-End? I turn it on, using NO-CD patch, and still cannot go to Nulb. :nervous:

Something odd going on there. Only thing I can think of right now is that it's a messed up install which is not much use to ya.

Really, really cannot get this Nulb crash thing going unless I botch my install. I've just reinstalled and it's working fine. :scratchhe

    Much strangeness.

By CCleaner, I meant a freeware programme which cleans the registry.

As I said, I can't reproduce the crash at Nulb without deliberately messing up the install. Sorry :(

    Got CCleaner installed. :dribble:

    So...

I should run Front-End first, then quit the game immediately, then patch it with its Co8 5.0.5 CMF update, right? :scratchhe
