    Thanks guys!

On a cable modem 10megabits a second, it took exactly 4minutes and 45 seconds to download.

Time for this Co8 addict to get his KotB fix now.

Its a LONG winzip, yes. So was the internal beta version.

The mod has nothing to do with Co8 5, its a seperate module, so folks can have the portraits and voices (or anything else) in co8 5.0.x and it won't effect anything.

Keep asking questions, btw, I'll do a proper FAQ once we get a few :)

Scroll down on the FileFront site until you see a big orange button marked 'download now'

EDIT: Crikey that 'upload' thing was a dead giveaway ;)

I checked with a new download attempt. The download rate has since about doubled from downloading the demo zip file. For DSL, it would be about 45 minutes, instead of 1.5 hours. I no longer have a cable modem connection to the Internet and now use DSL. (Yah, DSL is somewhat rather slow.)

Ok, the ModDB file has been approved! Thanks again to Gaear for setting up that site and Allyx for his perseverance.

If you are experiencing slow-downs at FielFront (which it doesn't sound like anyone is ;) ) use ModDB by all means :)

    I downloaded the KotB demo.

Now I just need to find time to play it...

Since people seem to be keeping track, my download speed is varying anywhere from 40 to over 150 kBps (240 to roughly 1200 kilobits ps). But that's on DSL with two other biggish downloads going on at the same time, and new antivirus software (after a near-disaster yesterday) that may or may not also be a factor.

Am I really only the ninth person to try to download it?!?

    Lucky all you have cable...

I have to wait for 8 hours to download (at least that's what the downloads windows displays)...but went slowly downt to 14 hours, and there's no way i can make a safe download at that rate, so i cancel it.
(we suffer from random power cuts, they happen more or less at 8 am here, so i could take the risk cos maybe it would finish after that...but 14 hours of download it's impossible) :(

For people using Dial-Up, I would suggest you get a free download manager.

I do not use one of them. Anyway, here is a free one that seems to be reasonable.

    * Download ConnectFusion.exe (1.17 MB)
    - FREEWARE
    - Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4, 2000, Win XP or later
    - requires: 400 MHz processor; 64 MB RAM; 4 MB of hard-disk space

    [from the author]
"ConnectFusion Download Accelerator is a very fast open source download manager. It will accelerate your downloads from the Internet and resume broken connections. It includes an easy-to-use interface and its installation does not interfere with the normal behavior of your browser. ConnectFusion Download Accelerator is 100% free, never expires, and does not contain any spyware or advertisement."

Voice and Portrait Packs no, okay- but is the original Chris Glenn one-at-a-time pic edit path still OK?

and- would it be helpful to upload to Rapidshare in 99 MB chunks?

Yeah thats cool - in fact, if you are comfortable with what you are doing, you can copy the voice stuff across from Co8 5 (files in the speech folder and the control .mes files). The voice part has basically suffered from being stapled to the portraits part, which won't work - hopefully there will be a fix for both in weeks to come. For now, best to play as is and be prepared to replay as a different alignment in a few weeks when that part of the game is sorted out.

As for RapidShare - we are discussing reputable mirror sites atm.

is the Patch in the KotB Demo file itself, or is it seperate?

Because I am not finding a seperate patch for it...
