I'm running the 5.0...Final mod pack is this the latest or is 5.0.4 the latest. I even saw someone mention a 5.0.5 mod too in another thread. I assumed since it says Final that's the it. The 5.0.4 download area also mentions something about being a beta tester or something and that ain't me. anyone?
There a few distinct parts to the Co8 files that you need to be aware of one is the ToEE front-end or ToEEFE, it is an executable package that can be used to load Co8 options when starting ToEE, it is at version 4.0.1.. 4.0.1 -> http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1511 CMF (I believe means cumulative modification/module file?) is packaged in two parts, one is the major part and one is the minor part. As of this posting you need to download 5.0.0 "final". First, this is the "major" part. This is what most sensible people would call "the patch" 5.0.0 final -> http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1819 While 5.0.0 Final has a very nice name, thats more of nickname then a reality. In fact you should download 5.0.5 "CMF" IN ADDITION to .. "patch the patch" That bad news is, as I myself had to deal with is that 5.0.0 has some problems that will make the game problematic AND 5.0.0 and 5.0.5 which was released a few hours ago (as of this post) is not compatable with save games from 5.0.0! (You have to DL 5.0.0 and patch it to 5.0.5) 5.0.5 http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?p=65343#post65343 I just learned all this myself a few hours ago in another post here: http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?p=65335#post65335 This has more information then you asked for, but I really wish someone had posted all of this for me when I first came here to download.. --- Above red items are in ERROR to various extents and in various ways. There seems to be a fair amount of confusion in this thread. Co8-5.0.0 is our latest stable release client, it comes with the frontend v3.80. The new Beta patch for the client is 5.0.5 and has frontend v4.0.1.
After days and days of conversation I just finally figured out your coder-babble. Your saying the EXECUTABLE file aka ("ToEEFE"/"frontend") is now at 4.0.1.. And the the MOD "patch" aka ("CMF") is at 5.0.5.. Now, that finally makes sense, it was painfully hard to see the distinction between these things when all people talk about is ToEEFE and CMF and not separately but intermingled like mutant DNA.
It IS all mutant DNA. This place is secretly just a hangout for the modders who were rejected by the NMA Fallout site! (You see, that's funny... 'cause... NMA stands for... No Mutants Allowed...) OK, it's late. Maybe I should go to bed now. :tombstone
Is there a readme or some kind of text file with the list of changes from 5.0.4, to 5.0.5 ? Just want to know exactly what the differences are and whether upgrading is worth starting over again.
Mainly dialogue fixes, a few scripts, and fixes for a few console-only items, some sound file related fixes and the zombie-gone fix the details of the included mods are in the cmf submissions thread, they start about 2/3rd of the way down pade 4 I think - just check the inclusion dates to be sure.
Thx for the update, I tried it with my 5.0.4 saved games and they all seemed to work ok, but I didnt go too deep into playing them..
AGHHHHH It took me 3 frigign months to track down a copy of this game again and I finally got a brand new version and now THIS!!! I downloaded your patch thingy and did what you said but it STILL doesn't work. The village still has a fog of war even when I turn it off at the front end screen. Loot works on the very first initital fight where you beat up peasants, I see the "grabby" hand and thats fine, but I can't test it out for real because as soon as I get to the first combat situation (the solo Goblin east of the Sheep Farmer) the damn game crashes. The game worked fine with just Patch 2, but I couldn't loot so playing was pointless, but now I can't seem to even fight without a black screen crash. Suggestions? Why the hell doesn't Atari release a proper patch, EVERY damn web search on this issue ends up back here and now your patch seems to be faulty too. Have you got one that ONLY fixes the loot bug and nothing else?
No we don't. You didn't select 'Co8 5.0.0' in the Front End, you are playing the vanilla game. Run the Front End and select Co8 5.0.0, then press run.
We're not mad, but posting inaccurate information as you have done is liable to affect the reputation of this group, which we have had to build up for years through hard work, and happy end users who have enjoyed are mods. We don't do this for a living, we do this for the love of the game, and the benefit of others who likewise love the game, and have done so successfully for years now, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. If you don't know the answer to a question posed on this forum, either do a search to find accurate information, or don't say anything at all. I really hate sounding hard-arse, but with KotB finally out I get the feeling that a lot of new players (and old players who are returning to ToEE) will be mislead by inaccurate posts, and lead them to beleive that we are no better than Troika and/or Atari at releasing bug free games.
