    Hallo,
    I have stopped playing ToEE some weeks ago, because of a problem I had with the display speed in the waterfall. My party was sent to a river to hunt something (A pirate sent me there). When I reach the location, the party is imediately attacked by several creatures (Lizard-Men and Giant Frogs). Every party member stands in a wonderful drawn river... But somehow that river seems to slow down the speed of the game TOTALLY! It took nearly two minutes for one enemy to move... It was really too slow. I have a Pentium IV with 2,4 Ghz, a GeForce4 Ti-4200 graphics card and 512 MB RAM under Windows XP SP2 running. With the Patch 1 and 2 by Atari and Co8's Patch 3.0.4 I was able to run the game quite fine. But how can I solve this speed problem?

    Thanks,
    StHubi

    While I can't say what's causing your slow-down, I can suggest one thing that helped me out with slow-down in a different area (a room in the fire temple). Under the display options menu, you can try to set all the graphics lower. Turn of high-quality cloth and set particle fidelity way down. I don't really notice much graphical reduction on my system, and things seem to run better. I might not help, but it's worth a shot.
    If it's still bad, you might try defragging your hard drive or reinstalling the game.

    I reduced everything possible in the video options to the minimum, but the speed did not improve by any frame. I used the "-fps" start parameter to have a comparison value, but it always stayed at 1.02 or 1.06 at best. This way the combat would take years and I do not even know if it will get better after the combat.
    Defrag of my hard disk did not help either. I even shut down almost every process running and used the task manaager to start ToEE (yes, I even shut down explorer.exe).
    Any idea?

    static animations

    I know that you said that you reduced all the video options to minimum, but did you turn off static animations and shadows too? I know that room in the fire temple slows down my rig a bit too, and I've got an AMD 64-bit with 1GB of sysmem and a BFG 6800GT VPU. Never noticed a problem hunting that fish though....

    Hi Lockster,
    where can I modify the shadows and static animations? I only have the entry "shadows - Simple" in my video options and I cannot find anything that says static animations.

    Bye,

    Strange... I found the solution, I think!
    I restarted the game a lot and at one point I accidently clicked onto "Tutorial" in the main menu. When I restarted afterwarsd my save game "Auto Save" has been overwritten with the "Tutorial" starting position. So I loaded an older game and went to the pirate who sent me to the river. I went there and EVERYTHING was fine... Looks like my save game was damaged or something like this.

    Thanks for the help anyway!
