wow -> Noodlin' <- click there QUOTE: Noodling, says King, takes a rare type of person. "You've got to be about half crazy."
You gotta be crazy, or from Florida. heh heh It's pretty big around here, I don't noodle but I've met some noodlers, mostly from the Deltona area.
I'm from Florida, but that's too much work for me! Give me a rod & reel, a brew and a shade tree. If I catch something, cool. If I don't, that's cool too.
That would be nuts. What would you do if you stuck your hand underwater in a hole and you were bitten by a cottonmouth water moccasin (a poisonous water snake)?
I've heard of (and done) tickling trout but not of noodlin'. Over this way the biggest danger you've have would be encountering a longfin eel, you can get huge ones (I've seen them) but mostly they're only about 1.2m long.
Are we talking fresh or salt water? Over here you don't stick your arm or anything else in a salt water river, unless you want a croc to take it off. EDIT: Not that i don't have huge raps on these guys for their noodling - thats just cool! Fishermen are undoubtedly the looniest bunch of sportsmen - even sky-divers don't come close.
Longfin eels are freashwater fish, apparently the largest fresh water eels in the world. Although apparently they swim to Tonga to breed.
I've been told the greatest fear is reaching into a catfish hole and finding an alligator snapping turtle, they can take two or three fingers in one shot. What's even stranger is a lot of women are involved in, and are active noodlers. Us craaaazy Americans! btw......I'm yet to see a cottonmouth swim underwater, they stay on top of the water where you can easily see them, more often they hang out in trees.
