I have killed IUZ this way with just stoneskin stacks,, over 10 stacks of stoneskin, and scather,, your AC dont matter,, you want IUZ to hit you to get the AoO. Have an invisible cleric and mage also cast stoneskin and heal every round on your guy fighting IUZ,, also you want to clean the room before IUZ shows up, so dont chop Hedrack down enough to summon IUZ until the room is cleared..

Fragarach is fun to use against Zuggtmoy.

A LG dwarf with a str of 26(+6belt) and Moradins Soul Hammer crafted to +3 works pretty good.

A wand of "true strike" comes handy too...very useful in a

    power-attack-greatsword-specialization-frost-brand pack warrior
A +3 holy/frost composed longbow (18 str) in a range-specialist Ranger beats the crap of anything too :eek:mg:
Combined with a two-wielding-longswords-cleric of Heironeous pack to clean the trash (like bugbears and gargoyles) and cure when needed.
Invisible Wiz to cast buffs (and in the firsts round, before the invisibility, a few fireballs)
Bard to use wand "true strike", sound burst to stun, and...ummm....sing

I've used that without having to use fragarach or scather...a weapon that always hits is for nenazas :mrhappy:

aha in that case yes, i did kill the current hard iuz ;D

typically i sell fragarach and never even get scather, as my parties are usually evil. i just needed it to defeat iuz in a game where my only aim was to defeat iuz ;)

if youve got another strat that works by all means let me know.

hmmm, some kickass stratagies to be sure. With Iuz on steroids (not an actual meat cleaver but the flying guillotine thingy - that was just a figure of speach as to what he did to my dudes).

anyway, I've not really figured it was as important to roll over him like i used to. I've been farting around with some different character mixes on solo to figure out what i like.

plus i keep getting that freaking bug that doesn't allow me to find secrete doors. I've saved all my games on another hard drive and then reloaded them when i have to delete them all.

I like having a saved game that has the last battle against zuggy. then i load that, don't kill that summoned whatever she summons, kill her (harder task for a solo now) and then let the game end while hte summoned creature looms over my dude.

then starting a next game solo i get all the experience points passed on to the next game.

Well, that's the way it used to work, but i keep getting a "no secrete doors bug"

So my last three or four trips to the top from nothing have been solo mage/druids/rogue/whatevers.

Mayhaps an ass kicken with studly fighter for iuz is my next quest.

    thanks for all the advice.

i started this string cuz i was so proud of my druid, his kickass long spear, then all he turned out to be was a pop up target for zuggy.

    that sucked.

Yeah, but you even admitted earlier that you haven't finished the new and improved TOEE. You just wait until you get down to the lower levels now.

And don't forget the Scather ;)

Well, it is a Druid we are talking about. If it was your tank I could understand your frustration. Just get the druid back to casting and buffing and move the tanks for. That is their job after all:drunk:

Edit: Just thought you could also use the Great Cleavers of doom. Fun when you don't care about blasting through enemies. Is the Great Cleaver a light weapon by the way? I assumed it is being a 'Handaxe' and all.

He he, i was kidding :)
But in the final battle (against Zuggtmoy) i prefer the "true strike" tactis, and let my cleric or ranger use Fragarach...Zuggy rarely attacks in melee, thus i prefer to throw in the middle of the battle someone with scather or fragarach to clean all the summoned fungi...
or having the fighter with scather make whirlwind attacks at maxed Power attack, and next round almost every creature will try to hit you, and all the other characters attacking/casting Zuggy. Summon creatures flanking is good too.

Last time i fighted against Zuggy i had Darley in party, and it was useless. I don't use npc's, but i think that for the final battle, OOlgrist could make it good. I'll see.

When i use Druids, i usually give them 1 or 2 levels as barbarian, it will let you use better weapons (though, in pnp rpg you can't do that)

Maybe in a specific setting (in Forgotten Realms, if you are a druid and worship Mielikki, you can use any weapon and you become proficient with heavy armor, and can use metal ones) but Druids can't use other weapons not only because they're not proficient, but because they have some sacred oaths that forbids them to use their allowed weapons, and any metal armor (or armor with heavy loads of metal, like the studded leather).
Thus, even if you multiclass as a barbarian, although you're proficient with martial weapons you can't use them because you will be breaking your druids oaths.

Well, you CAN use them...but you'll lose all your druidics powers t'ill you atone.

Actually, real druids didn't give a rats a$$ about what weapons they used.

It's just if you use the dnd 3.5 rules, and allow clerics or driuds to use bitchen weapons/armor, why would you use fighters/rogues/etc.

the 3.5 rules make the characters a complicated version of scissors/paper/rock

However, since i've played TOEE so many times, and i have it memorized, using a druid as a tank with a wizard side kick seemed an interesting way to play the game.

My newest game started has a chick that's a wizard up until 7th level, and just flipped to monk.

Her sidekick is a dwarf, cleric with intel of 6. that way he's got decent diplomacy skills, but says all the dumbassed comments that crack me up.

He's only missed a few oppurtunities to do interactions with his minimal diplomacy and very low iq.

I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Fighters/Rangers/Barbarians always have better chances to hit and do damage. And, Thieves have chances to trip and do backstab damage.
