I've gone through the forum posts, and haven't seen anyone else with quite this problem. The game runs fine, opening video is fine, character creation is fine, the combat in the opening vignette is fine. However, upon entering the game proper after the opening vignette, it crashes to desktop after about 5-10 seconds...every single time. In the past, I played the game and it worked fine. I recently reinstalled it to play it again, and started having this problem. My system: Athlon XP 2600, 1024 MB RAM, GeForce4 4200 128, Windows XP. I've tried the game under the following configurations, and had the same problem in all of them: XP SP2, no patch XP SP2, official patch XP SP2, official patch & latest Co8 patch (uninstalled SP2) XP SP1, no patch XP SP1, official patch, XP SP1, official patch &latest Co8 patch XP SP1, official patch & latest Co8 patch & rolled back to DirectX 9b instead of 9c BIOS settings match the video card recommended settings (that resolved some other problems but not this one). Video drivers are up to date. HDD is defragged. Memory and CPU pass torture tests. Anyone have any ideas?
look for a post titled "tried it all still cant loot". I had the exact same problem you had at first and by doing what I explained in that other post I have had no other problems.
