How'd you get your forum handle? Hail all, After reading some posts and seeing some names I was wondering how some of your names originated. Lord_Spike... Hrm... Trying to guess how, but nothing is popping up. Did you once have spiked hair (pics if so!). Anyhow, as for mine, MonTy, is not from the commonly known movie "Monty Python". My first PC game was Jedi Knights: Dark Forces 2 (a FPS). I was quite a youngin at the time, so I just used my Father's zone.com acount name (Montenay, his work). I played the game quite a bit and people shortened it to "Monty". After playing in the Quake 3 field semi-competitvely, and there being other Monty's, I decided to uppercase my T (it did make me 1337 btw). So I hope some of you have more interesting means of achieving your handle
Hmm... interesting thread. I'll give you a hint. If you're good, you'll find it. However, the hint may disappear after some time. I chose it regardless of its its meaning (depending whether you take it as a typo or not) I simply liked the sound of it.
whoa whoa whoa, wait a minute. You're twisting my mind around and making it hurt. So you're saying that there's a meaning behind the name.. But not too think too hard? Then you're saying you choose it regardless of the most common alike sounded name whether a person think it's a typo or not. Then you just decided it sounded good? Which one??? I've pried my brain a bit and googled... but nothing. Hrm!
Spike is an "NPC" Dungeon character from my 1st Edition PnP game. He is a 19th level Lord, and master of the Two-Handed Sword. He can hit any armor class on a 3 or better; unless there's some sort of penalty applied to the roll. He's been a campaigner in Greyhawk since around 1982.
Lord_Spike, Ahh 1st edition.. I have yet to read any D&D books and I'm tempted on starting from the first edition and working my way up to get a feel for everything (I have my first PnP game in a week or two!). Or would that just be silly? And when you say "He's been a campaigner in Greyhawk since around 1982." does that mean this NPC Lord Spike is actually still around in today's D&D campaigns?
Fun thread indeed... MonTy, look on the music list of Maggit... My "name" came from a character i've created (among others) for a novel/comic that become a Rpg to play with my friends. It's not a drow, is human (but made a little photoshoping to made him look like my old avatar), and i'ts nickname is the fact that his right arm and eye are missing due a treason...and when made the concept sketches used myself as model
Hail Half Knight, Ahh ok, I did see that about Maggit then. I was over-examining it And that's quite awesome you have made images for your character and a back-story (I would like to see them if you're willing!) That is something I have yet to do (and look forward in doing!). Is he still an active knight? A right arm and eye missing would make that title hard to survive on.. but hey, that's what makes the character all the more interesting, right?
Still Around? Yes. Still active? Not so much. The last game he participated in by anything other than reputation was Return to the Tomb of Horrors, which we played some time ago. Anybody wielding Fragarach against him could not survive. They would be dead by attrition long before Lord Spike would fall. 5 attacks every 2 rounds, doing an average of 25 damage per hit. That's 75 damage in round 1, and 50 in round two. Unless he drinks a Speed potion...
...i've not created a character for a rpg...i've created the whole thing (comic/novel/rpg), so since it has 10 years of developing (it's a piramidal world, so had to create even the rotation of the planet, plus the cultures, races, classes and so), show sketches would be a little...overwhelming :aaaa: but if you take a look on the KotB forum of concept art, you will see some characters
I like this thread, could be some interesting stuff here. My handle comes from two things: 1) The first time I scored a try in rugby I had to become a "Zulu Warrior", meaning I had to run naked around the goal posts under which I scored. But I wasn't TOTALLY naked, I DID have on my boots (cleats) and socks, and I was holding a cup of beer. (and didn't spill any!) ...11 years and 60 pounds ago. 2) I graduated from Texas A&M University in 1994.
Oh and I met the University of Houston head football coach AND his wife IMMEDIATELY after the zulu thing. Fun times.
