    Re: Nulb crash

Why can't I access the command console? Why the loot bug? AGH!

Is it because I need to load patch 1, then do the regedit steps, then do patch 2?

    Re: Nulb crash

OK - so what appears to be happening is that Patch 2 is being damaged or is not going in right...it's definately that...

I get part of the custom equipment mod (i.e. my heros have no clothes or equip) and no access to command console (it IS Shift ~ , correct?)

I am not sure why this download version is doing this...

My next steps are to install patch 1 before patch 2, and hope it works...any advice is appreciated! (edit: tried it, same problems)...

Could it be that when I modify the regstry, I am not pointing InstallLocation to the correct place? My game is installed at J:/Temple of Elemental Evil...and in the string value of InstallLocation, that is exactly what I type in.

Here is part of the instructions from the common soutions thread:

Inside it, create new string value, named

    Code:

    InstallLocation

and modify it with the full path to the game install. Also create new string value, named...

What EXACTLY is meant by "the full path" if my install is at J:\Temple of Elemental Evil...?

    Re: Nulb crash

Could somebody tell me what the Nulb crash actually is? Because my save games got corrupted when I travelled from the Temple Of Elemental Evil to Nulb, is that a coincidence? Also after reading through this thread I noticed there was more towns than just Hommlet and Nulb, I didn't know that, how do I get to them?

    Re: Nulb crash

    I SOLVED IT!!! Woot!!!!!!

I read on one of the posts regarding download versions of TOEE that sometimes the best solution is to use the no-cd patch. So I installed no-cd patch 2 - and voila!!!

My first game (again) and my party was wiped out by a group of goblins and wolves--woot! :dead: (no I didn't have a wizard - I start them with a level of Rogue like I do most of my main characters....)

I'm so happy I could cry.

MODs - please post that if you purchase the downloadable version from NewEgg.com, to be sure to use the no-cd patch #2 in order to run the game...

    :peace: :joy:

    Now - just hope I don't have a !@#$ nulb crash...no more autosaves/quicksaves for me!

P.S. thanks for all the advice and thanks for a lot of great work on the Circle of Eight mod - you guys rock.

Re: 5.0.x Cumulative Mods & Fixes (CMF) Bug Reports and Discussion Thread

You'll have to google for it - try nocd ToEE or words to that effect. Apply to your ToEE exe. If you've followed the standard installation for Co8, you need the no-cd crack for patch 2.

(Can't link to it because it's actually a way to get round the game's secure-rom copy protection but sometimes that seems to be the problem... so what can ya do?)

I have found it. Thank you. I hope this fixes the Nulb CTD because there is no other way I can keep on playing

    Re: Nulb crash

Duh whoops - guess I should have read your earlier post more closely Zebedee! Helps to R E A D....

I'll let you all know if I make it to Nulb. Great - now I have to kill those @#$ frogs again - had two party members swallowed during one adventure...

You know, it's a shame that there isn't a smarter AI available that takes into account morale and behavior. Like the frogs should flee after they swallow someone...and the goblins should RUN when they lose 25% of their number...that sort of thing.

Sadly that won´t solve the issue.

Do you think reinstalling everything again with the no cd crack will?

    Re: Nulb crash

Hello there. I also appear to be having this Nulb crash problem.

    So far I've tried:
Deleting Pyc files and excess map files to no avail,
I've also done a clean install twice now, applying the patches as and Co8 mods as instructed to a T, and also start brand new games each time and then plyed them to the Nulb visit for the first time and each time its the same story. I CTD.

Really been enjoying the game up until this point, and I really want to get further on with it. I'm begining to know the town of homlett and the bloody moathouse like the back of my hand though. Anyone at all got any more suggestions, I getting somewhat desperate here.

    Re: Nulb crash

Well, if it makes you feel better I have the same problem. Every time I reach Nulb I get a CTD. Don´t know what´s the problem. I have 5.0.0 patched to 5.0.4 and the first and second official patch, ToEEFE 4.0 and .NET Framework 2.0 but i get a crash...

    Re: Nulb crash

I have noticed some of the people getting the crashes have the 5.0.4 version. Considering it´s a beta, perhaps it has something to see with the crashes?

    Re: Nulb crash

Okay, I have merged a bunch of relatively recent threads and posts that all have to do with the Nulb crash. They can all now be found here. A few observations:

    • This problem actually predates CMF 5.0.4.
    • Earlier reports indicated that this problem may have been associated with Sitra Achara's signpost mod.
    • Earlier reports indicated that this error can be fixed by reinstalling the latest CMF.
    • There was an even earlier thread (from way back in 2005) that I didn't merge that reported Nulb CTD problems and other weirdness associated with the chests in the house in Nulb. I've experienced that bug myself many times.
This thread is stickied pending further investiagtion. Please post all Nulb-related CTD problems and/or solutions you may have here.

This was a low level flag problem involving a shop-map chest in Nulb, the inventory and spawning of the Ah Fong chest inventory when someone entered the game map for Ah Fong [his house interior as a shop with a chest]. This issue was fixed for the Ah Fong shop for the release of the Co8 5.0.0 MOD.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology (copying my ToEE install to a USB hard disk) I now have a portable copy of ToEE, YAY!!!

So I'm gonna kill the Nulb zombie signpost (or turn it into a propper post) and see if that helps, as I suspect the problem lies in fact that the "post" uses an NPC model number instead of a static model like the original post in Hommlet.
