Hey, I have a bard, and he came with a mandolin, but I just found a horn that he can use instead. Is there any difference between the instruments? Are some better than others, etc? If so, which are the best and which are the worst, etc? Thanks. -Keith
In the Co8 5.0.0 mod pack (and since Livonya's 1.5.1 mod IIRC) there are magical instruments in the game, available through the Craft Wondrous Items feat, I guess the horn you've got is the Horn of Fog which will (when Identified) cast Obscuring Mist, my personal favorite magical instruments are the Pipe of pain (casts Sound Burst) and the Mandolin of Charming (casts Suggestion IIRC) I think the magical instruments are also masterwork, so you should be getting a bonus to your perform skill with them as well.
No, it's just a plain old "horn", I dont think its magical. So then it's the same thing as the mandolin i guess?
each instrument type plays a slightly different jingle when your bard uses one of his her bardic abilities (Inspire Courage, Fascinate etc...) but otherwise they are just the same sort of thing.
