In case anyone cares... ;) I'll be doing a re-install
of my old (over 2 year old, actually) windows. So
I'll be seein' ya in some time.

Don't worry krunch, I've got a copy of the tasks requested
    by you on CD. ;)

God luck. I like to re-install Windows about once a year too, keeps everything running smother.

I would have actualy been doing the same thing today as it's upgrade time again, ;) but my new HD shipped late and won't be in till Mon. Of course if I get too impatient I guess I could install to my current HD and then copy the image over when my new one gets here. Just feeling lazy as I didn't want to back up everything from my C since I'm repalceint it anyway.

    Cuchulainn.

Make a good copy of your information on CD disks or on an extra hard drive.

    - your profile (%userprofile% - includes your My Documents & Favorites)
    - your My Documents folder (if you want to have 2 copies)
    - the Internet Explorer favorites (if you want to have 2 copies)
    - your program install files or downloaded files (a separate copy)
    - all of the ToEE and KotB files you have modded or have on your PC
    - a copy of Outlook files if used, see below
    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    [EDIT]
    re-read the above list...and

    for example..
    open the Run box
type %userprofile% in the text field of the Run box
    click the OK button
select all folders and files in the window that opened
make a new folder and copy your profile to that new folder
copy profile from new folder to external drive or write it to CD disks

    good luck

If you do not know what %userprofile% can do for you, try this.

    open the Run box
type %userprofile% in the text field of the Run box
    click the OK button

It open a new window containing your profile.

    Then, try this.

    open the Run box
type %userprofile%\Favorites in the text field of the Run box
    click the OK button

It open a new window containing your Internet Explorer favorites.

Just great.... it turns out that my DVD screws up every
burned DVD disc. This means I've lost ALL of my data....

Are you saying that you have a DVD writer and it is bad where it cannot successfully write to DVD-R disks? When you, first, made the DVD-R copies, did the disks show in Windows as valid disks with data and could be read, but now, since reinstalling Windows, the DVD-R disks cannot be read?

By this I mean that I was able to burn them... but it occurred
that they are unreadable when I try to copy, or read any data
from them... :/ I've heard that this may have something to do
with old firmware drivers... anyway it's too late to do anything
    now...

Well, at least, for your ToEE and KotB files, you can download files you have posted in threads to your computer and have a copy of those files on it since reinstalling Windows.

I, highly, recommend CDBurnerXP Pro 3. It is 100 percent free to use for personal use, non-commercial. And, it is fully just as good or is better than any version of Roxio, Nero, and other 'pay for' versions. The full version can be downloaded.

I've always been completely happy with a free version of Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 that came with my computer. It's never once given me any problems. But, that's just my personal experience. :)

Then again, I don't have a DVD Burner, just a CD burner, so I don't know if this software will work for that.

Try a different computer - it might be something as simple as the drive you're using not liking the DVD-R or DVD+R format, whichever it was.

or you can just use a flash drive. i rarely even bother burning disks anymore the flash drives are so much easier and faster.
