Hello there. I'm starting this topic for all users who found bugs/typos/errors in the long_description fix done by me and ShadowDragoon. If you find any just write here and I'll fix it as quick as I can.
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Aha! Breastplates are stated as heavy whereas they should be medium. Gonna fix this some day... not now though (or you do it S_D, it's your part of the file ).
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread ...I didn't even notice that. Alright, I can fix it, but you'll still have to be the one to re-post it. Or, I can post a bug-fixed copy, but then it would start to confuse people, wouldn't it? I'm not trying to get out of the work (it'll only take me about 30 seconds to fix), but I just don't want to confuse people.
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Hmm it would be a good idea to sticky the thread or simply post it into the CMF as an update. OK, I'm going to bed... Come to think of it, I could have done it by now... Oh... got a really nasty test tomorrow.... phonological acquisition *sigh*
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Ooh...that does sound nasty... Glad I'm not in your shoes. No more tests for me! I'm a free man! One small thing, though. I noticed that on the Weapons, about half of the info is already in the little description box when you highlight the weapon. Damage, Crit Rate, and Range are all unnecessary in the Long Description. It's really not a big deal, but the redundant information isn't needed. Egh. Now it's going to sound like I'm complaining, even though that wasn't my intent at all. :dizzy:
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Yes I know, however I decided to do so because there is no information about what type of damage the weapon does, critical ranges for keen weapons, what does it mean if a weapon is +1 (I know that most people know but it's pretty useful for D&D newbies) etc. and it would look stupid (IMHO) if these things were missing. Furthermore, I just wanted the descriptions to be as complete as possible, well I failed. ;P I forgot about the size. mg: (One more thing! This way one can see if there are errors in the protos! I took the stats from corebooks!) ----------------------------------------------------------------- And thanks for your concern. I hope I passed (I still don't know!).
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Ah, that's a good point. I took all of the weapon stats and such from rulebooks as well. (I have a rather nice collection of PDF files of...well...pretty much every D&D 3.0 and 3.5 book out there.) That's why I was fairly sure all of my descriptions were spot-on. Except I realize I reversed the Gladiator and Maurader armor. Gladiator is the one with more armor bonus, Maurader has more mobility. :sweatdrop ...unless I just got it backwards again. Oh, and be sure to say if you passed that test or not. I'm rootin' for ya.
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread How's that fix coming along S_D? PS. I passed... Got a 4+ (which is about B+ in US standards)
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Here is the place where the updates to the long_description.mes file will be placed from now on. As of Update 2-15-07: just un-rar the file to your Temple of Elemental Evil directory, and the file will go where it's supposed to. No need to manually hunt down the file and replace it. Updated 2-15-07 8:27PM EST Changes since 2-5-07 --Fixed several grammatical errors throughout the document --Changed a few weapon descriptions to me more accurate, as well as deleting some redundant information (all weapons are fighting weapons ) --Added missing descriptions for a few items Changes since 1-1-07 --Descriptions for all breastplates have been fixed (was incorrectly labeled as Heavy armor, as well as the armor description being from a different kind of armor) --Descriptions for the Marauder armor was fixed (incorrectly stated that Gladiator armor had better mobility than Marauder armor)
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Update: Fixed the description of the Marauder armor to properly reflect the comparison to the Gladiator armor. See post #9
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread I'll take care of fixing anything else with the long_description.mes from now on. I'm sure you've got much more important things to do, maggit.
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread ShadowDragoon- I got your message, I didn't really take notes when I was correcting the file. I've attached the file so you can compare it to the latest and greatest from you guys. It's basically the same as yours but with slight grammar corrections, etc. I really appreciate the work you guys have done for this game, I've only been playing it for a few weeks and it is hard to tear myself away from it sometimes. And I'm not into the whole D&D scene, I like my RPG's more Fallout-like than anything. -Inin
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Hmm... I hate to say it, but you're right Inin. :sweatdrop: As long as Maggit doesn't mind, I'll check out the grammar and try to make it sound more professional. I'll even give you credit for bringing it to my attention, Inin.
Re: New long_description.mes bugs thread Oh, and thank you for your remarks. We really appreciate it!
