The quick rundown of what I've got in the second patch is: * Lots of under the hood changes to facilitate future patches and community modifications. * A bunch of weapon prototype changes (value changes, wrong weapon types, wrong sizes, etc) * Many quest/dialog fixes curtosy of Tom Decker and Circle of Eight. * A rewrite to the random number generator engine to include new types of random number generators for thsoe who don't think the ToEE one is good enough * Fixes to critical hits not confirming in some instances * Fixes to str bonuses and 2handed-ness * Bracer equip slot bugs fixed * A few bugs relating to ranged attacks and enhancement bonuses have been fixed We are also considering reworking follower looting but there are so many different camps who want different things with this we are trying to come up with a solution that makes a few people unhappy as possible. __________________ Steve Moret Lead Programmer, ToEE Troika Games, LLC Irvine, CA --------------------------------------------------------------- "* Lots of under the hood changes to facilitate future patches and community modifications" Wonder what this refers too? ...Going to give us the ability to fix this bad boy up are they?
Thanks for reposting Steve's changes for the 2nd patch. In terms of quantity I must say I am a tad disappointed though. The number of outstanding bugs on the list at Atari forums is still not acceptable but Steve has pledged to further patch the game in future. Also not all of the changes which I submitted have been incorporated. However since Exitium has already coded these to be ready for release soon in our next patch update, these changes will not have gone to waste. I have no idea what those under the hood changes are. I requested for the Bracers slot to be left as is (currently it allows unlimited stacking from anything in that slot, which I felt would be a nice slot for modding) and Bracers transferred to the Thieves tool slot. I think Steve mentioned that the problem was that the Bracers slot doe not recognize the slot as filled when it is occupied and therefore allows stacking. I believe he has corrected this and not gone with the request which although may facilitate mods, would also be prone to confusion.
Altho fixing the messed up rules and the like is important, the thing that disturbs me the most is the game's sorry performance. I have to play in windowed mode the work around the performance issues with the mouse. And that does not always fix the problem. To me, that is the #1 issue needing to be fixed.
Thats likely just an issue with your machine.... you should probably update your drivers. My crap machine is a stock hp pavillion from 1999 and it runs this game fine without a single hiccup.
A lot of people on the Atari forum complain about the same thing. I've got a fully updated, powerful machine that stutters quite badly on certain sections like the guard tower yet it will run games like BF1942 and Halo fine in high res and quality.
For problems with the cursor moving choppy you should install mouse drivers which are exactly for your model of mouse. It very much improved the game performance for me. I have a SWW-23 A4Tech mouse, and found a driver at the manufacturer's website.
Is it possible that game performance could be increased by lowering the color depth of the background images to 256 colors with a pallette?
It seems most everyone does not recall that during an interview Cain stated the manner in which the mouse was handled in ToEE was buggy. Supposedly, the way DirectInput of DirectX works is flawed. Why the idiots used a method that they knew was flawed is beyond me.
