running Front End, latest CMF (5.0.3 I believe?), as of this this morning...I was running plain old 5.0.0 and was having some issues...so downloaded 5.0.3 and had to start over. I have all patches that I know of as well. So, upon starting the new game, I notice my monk is missing half her torso and legs. Never ran into this problem before. So far it doesnt seem to affect anything other than aesthetics....looks very goofy though. I did notice a new weapon as well that the arms merchant (Jade Empress) has...the kama. Cool. I dont remember off hand, is it worth keeping a monk bare handed, or can they fully utilize their monk abilities whilst using traditional monk/martial artist weapons like the kama, staff, siangkams, etc. Hopefully this time thru, I wont run into any issues....the orc cave quest never being marked as finished was what prompted me to update to 5.0.3. I've restarted this game like a dozen times in the last few weeks...when it 1st came out, I couldnt run it on the machine I had...so the game got packed away and forgotten about. Got a new system a year or so ago, and here I am. Any ideas what could be causing my monks graphic to be half missing? All she's wearing are padded boots and gloves, a simple circlet, white monk robes, brown farmer garb and a cloak. I thought it might be the items on her person that was causing the missing pixels/sprites (whatever you call them). Very Strange.
Hmm this could be the case. I was altering some textures in-game and have stumbled upon a similar problem with a mdf file which resulted in the characters having invisible torses I weren't messing around with white cloaks though... Will check that out.
Well, I switched to Blue monk robes and the character displays properly now. Wierd. So is it worth having a monk use weapons? The only plus I can think of is some undead, ghouls and zombies for instance, dont seem to take much damage from blunt attacks... though cant a monk do either blunt or piercing damage?
Can you tell us what cloak it was, and how she was wearing the monk robes and the farmer garb simultaneously? Or do u mean wizard robes?
Monks can choose freely between doing Lethal and Non-Lethal damage while unarmed. Overall, you're most likely going to do better damage bare-handed. But, you might wanna grab a few magical Monk weapons for later stages in the game...
There used to be a problem with a white and black monk's robes not displaying for certain character types (female elves and half-elves, I believe) which Cujo fixed for 5.0. I don't know why it would have been unfixed by 5.0.3. Monks robes count as robes, which mean they go in the robe slot and are worn over armor/clothing.
Hey. Yeah, RL has been hectic lately. Today is the first chance I've had (barring a mad password-changing spree on Friday) to stop by the board in a week and it feels like forever. I half expect to start reading the modding forum and discover Co8 9.2 has been released already.
