Well, I think Geaer pretty much puts it to the point. Modding is perhaps easy - as long as you know how to do it. And that implies time and learning. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you need some help on this, I'd be more than happy to take over for a while. I don't mind typing ad nausea. And I've been looking for a way to help at least a little bit around here (since I'm not really good with all the other more technical things people are doing, such as model editing, and item tweakin, etc...). Just drop me a message and tell me what needs done.
Gaear, you make a fair point, and people are quite entitled to come here and ask for stuff - its a basic form of feedback - but I don't think its unreasonable for a modder to respond negatively to a request of "can you please mod changes to the 250+ scrolls in the game, I can't be bothered opening the manual": especially when, as Blue pointed out (and as I was aware when I made my comment) the information is already in the in-game help for the specific spells. Time and effort goes both ways. Asking people who specialise at certain things to use their time and effort to do them is reasonable because its efficient: for instance, asking Cuchulainn about a new weapon model rather than doing it yourself is reasonable becuase it is far more efficient for someone who knows what they are doing to do it quickly rather than for an ignorant person to start from scratch and bumble their way through trial-and-error. This was unreasonable because Templar stated up front he could have read the manual but prefered for us to put in the time and effort unefficiently on his behalf: yes he has a right to ask for such things but I think we have the right to respond that our time and effort is just as valuable.
I'm sure you've already thought of this, but all versions of this game that I am aware of come with the PDF format game manual, and most if not all applications that read PDF files have a search function. The SRD has a search function as well.
:anger: sensing sarcasm *sensing* Oh great TOEEFE gods I shalt do my best to appease thee. Though I am unworthy if thou say it can be done so shall it be! I'm on the upper floor computer right now cause the net is not working below where i have TOEE but i'll give it a try saturday or monday night and see how it goes. If I can contribute in this way it would be an honor to.
And we would be honoured to have you contribute: actually I was not being sarcastic (annoyed, frustrated, and belligerent, yes, but straightforwardly so, not sarcastically). I meant what I said about looking forward to having you as a fellow modder, not just a user of our mods. Hey, sometimes the best way to break down the barriers is with a chainsaw :chainsaw:
If you are looking for finished descriptions see Cumulative fixes in General modification. http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3561&page=4
That actually wasn't as boring or frustrating as people would make it out to be. I actually kinda had fun!
Now, about those descriptions. If someone finds a description missing please post it and say which item lacks it. (I found another bug -_-)
The bug was with mine, wasn't it? :sweatdrop I'm gonna have to re-install the game and do some testing on this myself tomorrow...
