im not sure what to do next, ive downloaded all needed files and patches , but how do i apply 5.03 to my existing 5.0 frontend?
wraith_bones: Start up TOEE with the Front End loader Choose 5.0.0 Start a game Exit the game Unzip/unpack/extract data folder to your TOEE route directory (C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil) say ok to replace all. Unzip/unpack/extract mod folder to your TOEE route directory (C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil) say ok to replace all. Unzip/unpack/extract notes folder to your TOEE route directory (C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil) say ok to replace all. Go to my computer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\data\scr open the scr folder and look for a file named delete_pyc(it looks different then the others) Double click on it. Start TOEE with Front End Loader Choose 5.0.0 (you should see notes in the box on the right saying 5.0.3 with a date of last upgrade. If you are using the Voices and Portraits add on you will have to re-choose them on the Front End Loader. I hope this helps.........you can use the search feature to find answers to many common problems Oh....and Welcome to the forum
If you have no delete_pyc file then you must not have installed the full 5.0.0 mod correctly. You may be best off doing a complete uninstall (select both Co8 5.0.0 and ToEE in Add or Remove Programs for removal) and then reinstalling according to these instructions. Follow them to the very letter and there's really no way you can go wrong. After that, come back here and review Sirchet's instructions above for installing the 5.0.3 patch. If we're off base here then you're going to have to provide a great deal more information as to what you've done, tried, haven't tried, wish you'd tried, etc.
Well, we tried, and I am willing to walk you through it some more, but if it's too much hassle I understand. You should understand as well that 5.0.3 is technically a beta release. That is why it's not packaged for a no-brainer install. When it gets out of beta stage it will be wrapped up in a nice little installer like 5.0.0 is. Until then, just play 5.0.0. It's a lot of fun too.
I don't have the delete-pyc command either (or can't find it) and 5.0.0 works find. Just do a search for .pyc in the scr folder, ctrl-a the results, right-click delete and you're done.
Hi all: Here is the location of that file in my install....C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\data\scr\delete_pyc This file is a Windows NT Command Script file......I wounder if that makes it unsearchable? nope I can use the Windows search function and locate it. If you right click inside the scr folder and choose arrange by name it will be the first file under the D's. Blacksheep's method is also good, I just wanted to draw attention to the helpful and very thoughtful addition this easy dbl click application is. Myself I like it when someone makes things easier for me
Wraith_bones, if you have just installed a new game (as suggested by "ive downloaded all needed files and patches") you won't have any pyc files to delete, and you can just go straight ahead and play.
It's a simple command. Just open your notepad and type in: del *.pyc then save it and rename from .txt to .bat, then double click and voilà .
Just for the record, delete_pyc.cmd does not come with 5.0.0. It was written by rufnredde and comes with the 5.0.x CMF.
I just recently put .0.3 on my pc and had all kinds of weird stuff. CTD's and white T, etc. Finally, after 5 tries, I did a complete reinstall and everything is cool now, but if you get a corrupted 5.0.0, your doomed. The 5.0 final i have iin MyDocuments must have gotten corrupted somehow, because i've been using it since it came out. I never had any problem loading my laptop.
