I was reading through and following the instructions but I'm stuck on step 3. How do I know whether or not I'm supposed to install patch 1? It says to look at the version of my game but how do I find out what version I have? Also at the infrogames they have a patch 3. Do I install that or ignore it? Thanks in advance.

easy questions for a change .... it is not needed to install patch one but if you feel the need go ahead. as for patch 3 DO NOT install it if you want to use an mods from this site.

Just to complicate this easy question, most people do not need to install Patch 1, but some people have reported that they do. That is why I always recommend installing Patch 1 if your game does not already come patched to Patch 2 or higher.

To tell if your game came patched with Patch 2 or higher look in your ToEE root directory (the default path is C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil) and see if you have a file called temple.dll. Alternatively you could just do a search of your computer for temple.dll, but that takes a while. If you have temple.dll (prior to installing any Co8 mods) then your game is already patched to Patch 2 or higher so DO NOT INSTALL PATCH 1.

If you plan to play the Co8 mods DO NOT INSTALL PATCH 3. The Co8 mods fix everything Patch 3 does plus a lot more, without introducing the bugs Patch 3 introduces.

If your game came pre-patched with Patch 3, install Patch 2 to fix this before installing the Co8 mods.
