SPOILER ALERT (AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT) I've just restarted with co8 5.0.2 after not playing for a year, and I've hit a bug with the Black Jay quest. I've searched the forum and can see that if you talk to the teamster's son before taking the quest, then according to the Atari bug list there is an unresolved error in the quest which prevents it being resolved. I definitely took the quest first but have still had this bug. I assume it is the same bug. The only dialog option with Corl is to send him home. Is this a new bug, or the same one in a different guise? Can I console a way around it? Thanks for your help. Cheers, JD
Did you talk to Jay after sending Corl home? I've never had any issues with the poisoned sheep quest, other than the ending feeling a bit unresolved. But the quest has always completed for me. IIRC, the order of events is: Jay tells you someone is poisoning the sheep. Pick up the hemlock from Jay's field. (Optional) Ask Jay what the hemlock is, he sends you to Jaroo. Jaroo tells you it is poison, dialog leads you to check out the field at night. Find Corl in the field at night, he admits dropping the hemlock, but won't say why other than his family is in danger. Talk to Jay to end the quest and get the reward. (Optional) Talk to Corl and the teamster, but get no answers about who was behind the poisoning. This is the part that always feels unfinished to me. I have heard there was a planned mod to expand on this quest once (Liv's 2.0?) but it never got released/completed.
Corl is also supposed to be killed by one of Smigmal's assassins, but this event suffers from the timevent_add script bug.
Hi, I agree i wish there was some sort of resolution to Corl's actions. Uh misguided, hemlock chewing teenagers. How do you find Black Jay's wedding ring from his wife? It's not with the goblin anymore and i've yet to find it on a body. It's hard to imagine i missed it cuz i thought i'd gone back to every mundane encounter to check for event upgrades with TOEEFE 5. THis upgrade rocks. where can i donate money to you guys for putting together the upgrades and doing hte keep on the borderland module? U Rok.
It depends on your alignment. Frogs sometimes swallow the weirdest things and sometimes there's more than spiders in the Dekklo Grove.
Since you mentioned frogs, I encountered a bug recently (it occurred twice, for two different parties). Namely the frog had two or three rings in it, and I could get two/three awards for it from Black Jay. The third time everything was OK, the frog had only one ring.
ah ha. i've searched the delko grove tons over. but now that i think about it, i can't remember searching any dead toads at the moat house.
windmillcrusadeR - If you're really serious, you could donate to our host site, Sorcerer's Place. We won't see any of that money (and never do), but it would indirectly help to keep us 'on the air,' and I'm sure Taluntain would appreciate it. http://www.sorcerers.net/Main/helping_sp.php
Giving us a direct financial benefit for modding a copyrighted game we don't own may not be the most sensible thing (though its a damn decent offer  ) I second making a contribution to Sorcerer's Place: there is a Paypal logo at the bottom of this page.
I spoke to Corl after taking the quest, but the only dialog option was to tell him to rack off. He is terrified, but doesn't admit anything about dropping the hemlock. Maybe it's just a dodgy install. SPOILER I have an NG party and found the ring in the grove. That was a great little addition by the way. The grove always felt a bit half baked before. Thanks again for your help. JD
To get him to fess up, I think you have to have the hemlock in your speaker's inventory and have had it identified by Jaroo. If you qualify for both of these and Corl still won't admit guilt and go home, then yes, you may have some sort of install issue. Try deleteing the .pyc files. (But not the .py files.)
Thanks, erkper. That would be it. I don't know where the hemlock was, but it very probably wasn't my speaker. Cheers, JD
I've always been able to accuse him of dropping Hemlock in the fields, even without IDing it. What's your speaker's social skills? You need ranks in Sense Motive or Intimidate to get him to spill the beans, I think.
The speaker had Intimidate 5, but didn't have the hemlock in his inventory. When I put some in, the dialog fired. Proeblem solved. Thanks, again. JD
