I just bought TOEE and read in PC Gamer that you have fixed the game and I want to know what to do next. thanks
*sigh* Did you happen to run a search or anything? Guess not. I'm gonna go ahead and be nice here, before one of the elites comes along and flames you. Dowload Front-end, then: Here is where the mods can be found: http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3561
I'm sorry for seeming so stupid, but honestly, the site is really not very user friendly. I tried to click on 'FAQ' and nothing comes up, just a "Search" option. That's not the way to run an FAQ, IMHO. List the topics that newbies coming to your site need to know, don't just put up a search, because I don't know what I'm searching for ... YET! For instance, how am I supposed to know that I'm looking for a "Mod"? Truth be told, I would have never used the word "Mod" in my search. I just thought you guys had cleaned up the game and I would need to download a third-party patch or something. Now if you're going to tell me that a third-party patch IS a Mod, then fine, but how am I supposed to know that? Bottom line: The FAQ should LIST topics, not just refer you to a search page. But thanks for the ":sigh:" anyway...
Alright, alright, sheesh. I am new here (sorta) myself, and I guess I understand whee you're coming from. Now, it's my turn. Some specific questions help out. I can kind of help you, but the guys are a bit more in the know than I am. Alot more, actually. edit: and you don't sound stupid. I wasn't reprimanding you; I was protecting you
Wow, I'm impressed. I kind of read you the riot act, and you still offered to help. Thanks. I guess I'm just kind of confused by the whole process. Do I do the following, or something similar? 1) Buy the game 2) Install the game 3) Come to CO8.org and download some sort of Mod 4) Install the Mod 5) Play the "New and Improved" TOEE into the wee hours of the morning? Is it that simple? Are there multiple Mods? The article in PC Gamer didn't make it sound like that -- at least that's not what I took from it...
Alright, first and foremost, dl ToEEFE (Front-end). Then, download atari patches 1 and 2 (google it). Next, save the file for Co8 5.0.0 and unzip it into your root folder (default is C:\program files\atari\temple of elemental evil, i think.). Then, get 5.0.2 and do the same. Open up front end, select the options you want, and activate the module.
I just put a bid on the game on eBay and expect to win it by tomorrow. Are you telling me I can just download the game? If so, where?
davidober - Everything you need to know can be found in this thread. As far as the FAQ goes, the 'search' function I believe you're referring to is for searching the FAQ, if that makes any sense. The actual FAQ is below the search section on that page. It doesn't really matter anyway, because there's nothing in the FAQ about our mods, just info on being a forum member and whatnot. We've been trying to figure out how to make things clearer here for some time now, but that's ultimately up to the owner of the site. Glad to have you onboard, and we hope you enjoy the mod. And yes, whatsername is a sweetheart who probably saved you getting the red ass from somebody else. She deserves your undying praise and adulation.
Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to coming here often... I'm really excited about this game, because I haven't played a great CRPG since the Baldur's Gate series, and I'm totally Jonesin' to start one up again. Figured I'd by TOEE and the Mod, and then also pick up Neverwinter Nights 2. I didn't even buy Neverwinter Nights 1 because I couldn't stand the fact that you can't even control the NPC's.
I hope you didn't bid more than between $5 & $10 for it, as that is the going price at Wal-mart these days for the no-frills version. I'm sure you can pick up a used copy cheaper than that at your local EB Games or pawn shop... ...just in case you don't win.
