How do you get past the electricity trap on Level 4 of the Temple?

How do you get past the electricity trap on Level 4 of the Temple? Is it as simple as casting Protection from Energy - Electricity on everyone in my party? Or, caasting Dimension Door and transporting my party past the trap? I'm stuck.

 

You need a good rogue to disable the trap.

Use your rogue and have them look inside of the box there, have them locate the mechinism, have them disable the mechanism, close the box and you are good to go.

 

Someone or something on that level has the password for the trap as well. You can beat it out of them, but remember that the dead can't tell you anything.

 

How good of a rogue do I need? I had my rogue look in the box, she couldn't disarm the trap. She's level 11, but multiclassed as fighter/rogue - maybe she's just not high enough on her rogueing skills?

Also, I think I pretty much killed everybody in the nearby area who might be able to tell me the password to the electricity trap, except for Paida and the other concubine. Senshock wasn't very helpful. And the commander(?) of Temple guard - well, he wasn't very polite and started attacking me.

However, I do remember when I first entered that level, I went into sneak mode and saw some guy with resistance to electricity haloing around his body walk out from the hallway leading to Senshock and then past the electricity trap with no harm done to him. Was this the guy I had to get the password from?

 

I have had a level 20 rogue not be able to disarm that trap,, as a matter of fact I have never been able to disarm that trap with any rogue..

Personaly I go around through the throne room entrance,
which opens after obtaining Zuggy's skull.

 

Just so we are clear, you don't disarm that trap like you do normal traps. You open the chest and a dialog starts. I your Disable Device skill is high enough, you get a dialog option to disable the trap.

I have never not been able to disable that trap.

 

Were the requirements to be able to disarm the trap changed in 5.x? When I went through in 4.0, my lvl (3 rogue/ ftr whatever) disarmed it no problem, but in all my 5.x runthroughs I have never been able to get the disarm dialog to fire. Even when I raised my rogue levels considerably. I always end up having to run through in combat mode.

 

Well, there is another way to get past the trap that might work:

Accumulate enough gold and have your spellcaster who knows Dimension Door and a Craft Wondrous Item feat craft Capes of Mounteback for each party member. Then you can dimension door through the trap.

The downside is that you need to accumulate a lot of gold and XP to make all these capes for everyone.

 

You can just have anybody with a high reflex and/or evasion run right through it. A rogue or ranger almost never takes any damage at all. Then go through any door on the other side of the trap, then back again. This will bring your entire party to the other side of the trap to said doorway. You will need to get past some baddies to do this. I just sneak or use invisibility.
