Ok, here goes... I am in Verbonc, fighting a Adult White Dragon. I can hit it on the first round, then nothing. As soon as it does it's Fog Trick, nothing I do can hurt it. ( I am using the Giant PC from the C08 Mod, with some improvements. I gave it 18 in all stats, and extra HP. I also gave it a number of Feats to start with, all using the PC editor.) I don't mind a challenge, but... Mountian Lion(My upgraded version of Giant) is a Level: 1 Barb/1Ranger/1 Rouge/7 Fighter/ 10 Druid. He is using Gauntlents of Power( A creation of my own) that give him +6 to STR (and Dex and Con, plus a few other nice abbilities.). After losing 3 times, I gave him 250 STR, and Scather. With a 141 Primary Attack, using Scather, I should hit alot. (I changed my alignment to CG.) Instead, I still miss 100% of the time, after the first round. Spells don't work on this Dragon, and Weapons just miss. It is fine, until the Fog is there. So, what gives? Is this a special Fog? Do I need to take the Fog away from the Dragon? Is it supposed to be unbeatable? Or am I just missing a Trick? ( I killed the Young Dragons just fine, if a little Cold.( Ha, Ha.) ) Thank you in advance.

The fog grants a 50% miss chance for concealment (this also applies to the dragon itself) and has damage reduction vs non-magical weapons, it could be that your hitting the dragon but not causing damage with your normal weapons? or you just unbeleivably unlucky on the concealment checks?

Thank you. My Spot skill is 22, so I shouldn't fail the check that often. My Weapon is a Masterwork Silver Keen Great Halberd , with +3 Flame, Frost, Shock. As I said, I even tried using Scather on the Dragon, and I still miss 100%. ( The Great Halbred is a Mod Weapon of mine, that I Enchanted with my Druid stuff.) How can I miss this thing that much, using Scather, with a total of 256 STR? If the Fog makes me miss 50% of the time, then why do I miss 100%, after round 1? Is this a glitch? (Ps. I did a Protos Edit. The Red Dragon is just like the White Dragon. If interested, I can fix this for us. If I don't get a fix for this Fog thing, I am going to replace Fog with Cone of Cold, or Ice Storm.)( Another Edit. The Blue Young and Red Young Dragon have the same stuff. Blue Dragons are Shock based, not Fire based. I also don't remember White Dragons using Fog. Ice Storm makes more sense. So, the Dragons need fixing.)

Does the halberd grant reach? IIRC fog cloud grants 50% concealment while within 5' of your target, anyone further than 5' away should be getting 100% concealment.

Hmm, that might help. If you have used Giant, you know that he really is a Giant. So he has the reach you mentioned. And, so does his Weapon. I will try another Weapon, and get back to you. ( Ps, check my Edit of my 2nd post here.) Thank you.

I've never had any problem at all with that dragon. I usually use a Staff of Fire to nail it with Fireball spells while I have 2 or 3 other characters melee-ing it. I never have much problem with it...

Then again, the dragon is also flying. Would that have anything to do with hit/miss chance? I'm not sure if it has anything to do with anything or not, or if it's just a nice graphical feature.

Ok, I fixed it. I replaced Fog with Frozen Breath. I killed it in 5 hits. Just like I should. :chainsaw: :Cutlery_T I tried to reduce my Size, but it didn't help. I even tried to let my Prisioner Gnome use his Dagger (+3 Flame, Frost, Shock), and he missed 100%. So, taking the Fog away was my only Fix. ( I didn't want 256 STR, and Scather anway. It makes it to easy. :poop: ) I also tried a Wand of Flame Strike ( at level 10 Druid), but the SR of the Dragon killed that idea. So, for me, a Edit of the Protos was my only solution.( Just like Captian Kirk Cheated on his Final Test.) :ninja: Have fun all.

Of course, understand that changing Fog Cloud to Frozen Breath in the protos most likely broke the strategy of the White Dragon, since the strategy will still have it trying to cast a no longer existent Fog Cloud.

Until we get more reports of this issue, we will assume that it is unique to your install.

As usuall, Blue is correct. It worked, and the White Dragon still tried to use Fog on me. That is why I killed it so quick. Not that it matters, as I can't leave Verbonc. There is a Thread about that problem. Now to post there. Until later. :drunk: :notworthy
