question about editing a save file

yes I know could probably read through the forum to find a topic on this but being tired don't feel like it. if you can link a post that will be sufficient. but my questions are this. I got scather and realized I didn't make my main fighter chaotic good, so how easy is it to change that? I edited an npcs stats no prob (gave meleny a bit of a strength boost really so she could carry stuff etc). You can direct me to what I need and what I need to do would probably work. And is it worth changing my characters stats, like are there any problems with editing saves files like they won't work etc? Thanks for any and all help given.

 

It is the 4th byte after weight It would be 53 bytes +4 for each level of your character past charisma. Chaotic Good is 06.

You need a hex editor. I thought you had one by the statement you made about boosting an npc's strength. I guess you must have done it with a tab editor. Here is a link for starting to hex edit.
