Ok, so in my absence, what has been happening KotB-wise? Well, not a lot. BUT there is (and has been for a while) a new release approaching, featuring some new stuff from Lord Graywolfe, Screeg, Ax thrower, Cuchullain, EUIX, Ioannis and others, as well as some custom sountrack music. It will only be an internal release to kick along the modding, but I am mentioning it here in public to let folks know it is all coming along nicely (if slowly). Tentative release date of the demo planned for before Xmas
This is great, it's really nice to see that despite your absence there's been quite a bit of progress in the KotB area. I'm looking forward to grabbing your new private release once it's ready so that my dev ToEE install is up to date and I'm ready to help you out further. Also, it'd sure be wonderful to see what's new in KotB - seeing this huge mod progress is what makes me go on modding ToEE! Woot, looking forward to playing a finished version of the demo whenever it's ready! - Agetian
Just a curiousity, but where could I download and examine the KOTB mods and suchlike? well the ones currently in the making
If u have a look at the 'how to get involved' thread (stickied in here with the other kotB threads), the first post has a starter pack u can download and have a run around in the Keep. Thats all that is available for public consumption atm, uploading it a bit at a time would just ruin all the surprises / plots.
A quick update: the Mad Hermit map now has a bunch of animals and monsters on it: some roaming, some lurking and some downright concealed. Also, most are randomly created (from an appropriate list) so no 2 games will ever be the same Err, not that they will be that different, but its a start Pix to follow soon enough, since (as u may have noticed) my recent change of ISPs means the temporary homepage with gallery is gone.
Groovy! A recent PnP session had the PC's leaving after realizing he was sort of nutty. They went towards the Spiders & when the party encountered them, the Hermit leapt in screaming about the party upsetting the balance, etc. Like he's a nature freak who couldn't actually become an overzealous druid. Made both encounters better, as the PC's were harder pressed than they would have been fighting either encounter by itself.
So a tentative pre-x-mas release of KOTB? Kewl. I have been awaiting NWN2, but am so annoyed with the constant delays that i have got back into TOEE. It will be good to see this more PnP based game expanded. By the way is there anyway to multiplayer this game? (something like the BG2 multi?)
Too bad. Although you can see something like allow multiplayer in the WorldEdit. I guess it's some remainings of Arcanum, or something, because the editor looks as if it had been based on the Arcanum one.
Bugger. TOEE definitely has a more "real" feel to it than other pc rpg games availiable. I always find these sort of games are far more enjoyable when you get the diversity of multiplayer happening though.
Update A brief update for the modders, that I will do publically so people know what is happening. Modding is chugging along, more dlg stuff is coming in every day which is good (well, every other day ) The next internal release has been held up by my hacking in new maps and doing the day-night transitions, as many of you know. These are now finished (well the maps still need plenty of work but they r in a healthy state to be modded). So, a few more days getting all the dialogue stuff in order then I can release internally and people can have a look and we can move on. Although it probably doesn't feel this way, i still think we are on target to have the demo ready for bugtesting by the end of the year, with a release (of the demo only!) in early January. There are currently 48 maps in the game, we only need 5 more for the demo as I envision it, of which one Screeg has done but I haven't sectored, one I am working on myself and is better than 50% complete, and the other 3 are in negotiation. beyond that, it is mainly dlg stuff. This can be tackled by several people at once and can move ahead very quickly one the time comes (there has been a lot coming in from different sources just this last week). So when the moment comes we should have the foundations in place to move ahead quite quickly For now, I am going to do a kwik bit of bug-fixing and such for the Co8 release then get back to KotB probably tomorrow.
Have you picked up the Inner Bailey day and night maps yet? Currently working on the warehouse. Drop me a line if you need anything.
Please put a new link to the KotB module. The one I found is Broken. 404 Internal Error. I would much appreciate if you would stick a readme somewhere. Thank you.
With ALL the updates and adds AND with install instruction. Please, I do admire your work but no time to study it better. I do a lot of trabeling Thank you again.
