Doing some random hack&slashing, I got to wondering if there are any serious changes to be made to Party Planning based on the Co8 additions to the game. Some random ideas: A Druid with Natural Spell to wear the Druid's Vestiments and become a Hill Giant. Meleney is a fine choice for this. The lack of a half decent weapon even with Greater Magic Fang is a problem, but the buffed out Hill Giant form is hard to hurt, and it looks cool. A female Barbarian to wear the Gladiator Armor. Someone with maxed Open Locks, Search and Disarm Device, always. Other thoughts on party builds that take advantage of Co8's changes and new content?
I made a ranger last week, dispite the fact that i hate the class prior to Co8 5.0, and now that i can actually get my grubby hands on a masterwork longbow early enough on to be deadly, shes my killer pc. Same goes for all my characters though, since they usually take a bit to get into real fighting action. My wizard now kills all the more efficiently as well with the tasty new spells, though they are a bit off in the future as far as actually casting them goes.
Well, as the game already has quite a few Holy Weapons, I can assure u there are now new Unholy and Chaotic weapons added in the new stuff. So u might wanna keep that in mind.
Re: What are some parties that take advantage of Co8's new content? Possible Spoilers On a side note Ted, is there a listing anywhere of various monsters' alignments? Sure, a Good(holy) weapon is great, but I can't see an evil or chaotic weapon being all that useful. And I'm wondering whether my LE cleric will be able to get much, if any, mileage in making a lawful weapon. Us evil parties have it rough!
Re: What are some parties that take advantage of Co8's new content? Possible Spoilers Unholy weapons are (imo) kind of a wash. The only Good foes in the game are Calmert and Terjon if you decide to go that route; in the temple, Unholy damage won't impress anyone (as far as I'm aware). Axiomatic Weapons will do extra damage against many or most foes in the temple. I'm not sure how useful Chaotic weapons are in the Temple, but I suspect a few Lawful Evil types may be down there.
Re: What are some parties that take advantage of Co8's new content? Possible Spoilers I created a Druid and gave him, of all things, a sling and then I gave him all of the ranged weapons skills and beefed up his strength every level that you can adjust their stats. At 9th level he is flinging 3 per round and doing big damage. I also always have a good rogue. I always have 2 "tanks", main line fighters with bastard swords. The rogue and magic users will use missile weapons and spells. Works like a dream.
On Co8 and equipment: The Shop Map at the start of the Co8 game make getting appropriate weapons and armor for your PCs from the start much easier. In particular, the early access to the Dwarven War Axe makes a great deal, for Co8 Dwarf Cleric, Rogue or Wizard, and the Corset and Gladiator Armor are always welcome in my party. Early access to composite bows will make your archers happy, if you can spare the cash. The cabinet maker in Homlet now offers Masterwork wooden items; just talk with him about Masterwork Items after the wood supply is secure and wait a while for him to build what you need. Brother Smith continues to stock Masterwork metal items after you get him what he asks for. Neither character has everything they cary in stock at once, but both will renew their inventories every 24 hours. All in all it's now much easier to fine tune your character's gear. So, any Co8 equipment related tips?
About that Corset... it seems that it has a special quest associated with it. At least it seems so, when I try to talk to Pishela. Since she is not my favourite NPC and I'm too far from considering to take her... but it's interesting to know, what I miss. Is this quest or something available without Pishela? Though I can't share anybody's enthusiasm about that corset. I don't like how it looks. Any girl in it just looks like a rural prostitute. It seems so rural because of that big skirt with no top. A girl just needs a peasant hat and a scythe to go to field. If the "bottom" would be a copy of that of Sorcerer's bottom, the corset would look much smarter. Imho. As smart as gladiator armor. Btw, the gladiator armor seems to be the best light armor.
Re: What are some parties that take advantage of Co8's new content? Possible Spoilers I might just be tempted to have a paly with the corset sometime in the future.
Are you talking about Pishella's dialog line about making her wear skimpy outfits? If so, I think that's just the modder's (I'd guess Ted's) sense of humor showing. If that's not what you're talking about, I missed something...
Thanks! Right you are. I just thought the dialog could develop in future into some quest or story and that was a point for choosing between Pishela and Spougnor. And it's rather expensive to change a NPC-wizard just for a quest. Thankfully it's allright.. as you say.
